Make XP usefull post level 30.

Heya.

I want to suggest having a system to use the excess xp you get after you hit 30. Basically, it is useless. I would suggest having an NPC in the nexus that uses the excessive XP as currency, able to drain the xp down to the start of level 30. What it would do in return to it is up to the team ofcourse, a few ideas I had are.

1) Making it possible to Imbue self written books with xp, making it possible for the reader to get a fraction of the xp, for example, a wizard writing a book about about magic, imbuing it with 30.000 xp, for anyone to read it, and use it, a spellcraft check would be made, according to the character who infused it, so, if Harry the apprentice wizard with 14 spellcraft, reads a book made by Wolf the Archmage, costing him 30000 xp, he would roll spellcraft, vs the DC, and for each above the DC (per team discretion) he will get a bas of 30%+1% per 3 points above the dc.

I think this will both make use of a useless resource so far, in addition to making it more fun to have an abiolity to actually mentor new chars, adding to the Dynamic of apprentice/master.

2) I would suggest having a unique perks shop using said xp, thus enabling further progression past 30, as a VERY basic example, 2 million spare accumalated XP,l could be used to get wings, or anything the like. Basically use ABSURD amounts of xp, for the ability to get UNIQUE perks to a character, I think it would reward people who stick to a character for a long time and make the "endgame" still fun with a sense of progression.

This suggestion addresses mainly COSMETIC rewards for the xp, not something that gives power, but lets you have things not normally available. I do think, a sort of "Endgame" mechanic, could be hugely beneficial.

3)DM interaction rewards, basically tokens at an EXTREMELY high cost, giving the player the right to have a DM event, for his character, be it a goal he is pursuing, or something regarding his history.

While I am aware this is a very hard demand from the team, if it is accepted, it will let long standing players, the ability to get personal attention.

I would be happy to have other ideas as well to do anything with said "Useless" Xp, and not only make it RCR fodder. Would be happy for opinions aswell.

My main point in this thread, is trying to adress the fact that after 30, xp is useless, and as a resource, I think it can be nice to use it.

Thanks for reading :)

What about making XP, even before level 30, transferable within limits?

This would actually reward Mentor-Disciple roleplay.

Say, you can transfer 3k XP per week. I don't think anyone would think it unfair.

Then people would keep an FvS 30 alt doing nothing but quick earning the XP.

You can only transfer XP between different Ckeys.

Multiboxing is now a bannable offense unless given permission by staff. This permission would only be granted to people who share a household or are doing staff testing requiring multiple log ins at once.

It's mainly why I suggested having limits, using the skill system to have "Mentorable" fields.
Like any good thing it can be exploited, I am not trying to say it is different.

This is a VERY rough draft, and while exploitable, I do think it adds a fun aspect, in my eyes at least, it's why I suggested the base rate of exchange is 30%, less than the regular RCR mechanic.

As of the other 2 options, they would require MIllions of xp, and even for said FS 30, it would take a few months, of 12 hours a day grind to reach the apex, so I do not think it is THAT exploitable, but rather rewards longstanding players and chars.

I would love though, to hear your personal opinion, about what you think, could be done with said post 30 xp, to enchance gameplay, I do personally feel, that after hitting 30, alot of the excitment of leveling up is gone, and sense of progression is lost to an extent, I would love if the issue could be adressed :)

Re: sense of progression.

What if there was a way to move skill points from one skill to another, to represent the fact that your character's interests change, their strength wanes and weaknesses wax?

Or to trade feats for others (as long as not required by another)?

Or for extreme cases, move 1 ability point from 1 skill to another (perhaps max XP allowed by game (around 90k XP's worth over level 30, heavily rounded as cost))?

The above could be done, sans feats, with tokens that give morale bonuses. Since morale bonuses stack with just about anything we have player side, it should stick pretty well.

Is it? Not seeing anything about it in the rules.

Link and citation, please.

I don' think there is a way to address the issue. Level 30 is basically end of the road, and unless your character is heavily involved into something the best option available is retirement.

I also think that level 30 character shouldn't get any special perks compared to everybody else.

Why not just have an xp button and let everyone get as much xp as then want whenever they want?

I disagree. When I played NWN1 the game began when i hit level 40... I played my level 40 for like 2 years .. It was all about Rp and no need to worry about grinding.

Well, this is bgtscc and not nwn1.

In my experience on bgtscc, when you hit level 30, there simply isn't much left to do. RP should work in theory, but in practice various groups you could interact with simply do not stay alive long enough, and character becomes a "ghost".

It would be nice to get gold instead of xp after lvl30. When you die you pay a 10% per lvl =3000g gold penalty.

For me lvl30 isn't the end of the road as for some builds you need many hours of gold farming to get the epic gear, if wanted.

Also you can work on your tactics against several foes. It took me years and the help of new added spells to defeat the lich at the Vault of the Dead all alone.

I have four lvl 30 chars. Only one of them has almost the best gear you can buy for gold.

Concerning rp, it doesn't make much difference for me. You can have or not have rp with any lvl. For example I reactivated my first character Tamon to act as merchant guard for Lady Moire Rouge. My lvl 30 hin warrior still joins any tourneys. It is just up to you. And all over the years I had much more RP as lvl 30 as I have in the few days/weeks I get to the epic levels.

What's the motivation for doing this? Be careful not to find solutions that don't have problems.

Would be nice if the extra XP past 30 could be made into gold and saved on a "bank account" which you can access with that character only. Either 100%, 50% or even 25% is fine.

Alternatively, we can trade it into another currency that enable you to buy special tokens, which can grant you something, like a free 100% RCR (cost a lot), feat exchange, redistribution of skill points or something entirely different.
