Time for that oft-asked question, once again!

I'm level 12, and I'm not too sure where to go from here. I haven't figured out how to get involved with server happenings beyond lurking awkwardly next to large groups, repeating rumors my character's picked up, and awkwardly following people around. I see some RP threads on the forums, but I don't know which I should post in or what to post in them.

So far, I look at the Player Scry tool when I log in, and then make my way over to where the majority of the players are and hope something's involved that I can eavesdrop on... :P

Any tips for a shy person who plays a shy character?

Find a 'shy' guild you can get involved with. Plenty of em need ears about catching rumours and spying on other players. You could get plenty of RP that way. Candlekeep, Harpers, Zhents, Red Wizards, Sharrans, Bregan d'Aerthe all come to mind, amongst others. Find one you like and let your career as a professional sleuth begin!

Hello A Small Cute Cat,

don't be too shy to post in any thread in this https://www.bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=17 forum for surface
or this https://www.bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=18 for underdark that doesn't start with "DM". This threads are for DM rumors only.

For the ongoing DM campaing there is a special forum here. https://www.bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=399. It also contains a lot of the history of the old campaings. There is also a good thread here.

The Dungeon Master Realm https://www.bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=15 is for the DM to write summaries about their played events and sometimes ongoing plots. But for the happenings of the ongoing plots the DM rumors in the RP sections are used mostly. You also can ask questions to the DM (oocly and icly) here. Ask Arkanis is a very famous and helpful thread here.

The sticky threads in the Elfsong Tavern or the Gloura's Wings section are for the different regions and are for player rumors that could be noticed in character by all. You also can start a new independent topic for example with your own character's rp in these forums. For anouncements of player events there is a special thread here. https://www.bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=56841
Most guilds have their own RP Thread in these forum sections. So if you like to get in rp with a faction, guild, order or company, you can leave a post in there. Possible is also that you just leave a notice and send a pm to the guild or the Contacts for Guilds. The list needs to be updated. Follow DM Ditto's post.

As the Dungeon Masters probably don't have the time to follow all guild and event threads, it is recommended to sent a pm with a link to your post and your possible questions to the DM Team, if you don't want to get missed. You will probably get an answer. That can take some time as there are only a few dm and probably lots of requests. So you have to be patient.

The Guild and Faction forum https://www.bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=16 is mostly for info about the guilds and many of them forward you to their rp threads in the Elfsong Tavern or the Gloura's Wings section. You also find the privat guild forums here once you joined one of the many factions and guilds. Ask your guild leader to open your acces to the privat sections.

Character Biographies and Journals https://www.bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=20 is used to leave your character's bio or story. Often these infos are only ooc and it is dangerous to read in there if you don't want to get spoiled. This also counts for some of the guild threads and post.

So if you are not sure if your character would know of a special forum rp action or rumor, it is often better to ask the author or the DM Team before you reply in character. Also be careful not to god mod or metagame your actions.

After all don't be too shy to post. If your post is wrong or posted in the wrong thread the moderators , the DM or guild members will normally just inform you to remove or move the post and don't blame you.

I hope that helped you a bit to get orientated.

Have fun and kind regards

Touri

I've personally found the best way to get involved is to go adventuring with a few different people. Join any pick up group you can be part of. People tend to be more social with people they have cooperated with.

In all my years i have found the best RP comes from making your own and joining in when opportunities arise. Look for things to be happening but dont be afraid to have your own little stories going, people will often times look for ways to join in.

I like the above mentioned comments.

Try and see if you can go adventuring with some groups. It helps open more RP and a lot of the time gives you something to talk about. :)

It can be a daunting task to decide which group to join. most guilds have a guild page with a description on it so you can read about the guild before meeting with them.

I'm coming up on some free days soon and you are more than welcome to seek out Captain Vala Reyer of the Relentless Storm (easy rp reason to seek information about ship/adventures without committing) and we can set up a time for some rp if you'd like (PM or on the public forum page). :) :)
