A travelling caravan took a tragic route as the well dressed merchant grew direly ill and the caravan stopped. The man exited the caravan, fell down to his knees in spasms then vomited up on deadly black ooze. THe ooze itself was alive, dissolving the man's face and killing him as everyone watched in horror. The ooze, released from it's gastro-intestinal prison struck out at the guards and then an adventurer slaughtering them before two more were able to bring it low.

The caravan was carrying gold nuggets and pottery heading north bound out of Amn. Soon tragity struck again as the assembly of adventurers were accosted by a gnoll raiding party. The pottery was smashed and the gold nuggets stolen.

In a minor victory, the broken down wagon was then dragged off by a web covered horse to the Friendly Arm Inn where it sits.

The bodies of the deceased were respectfully buried along the roadside.

A second parasitic slime is accidentally transported with the dead host, breaking free of its confines and kills 3 people. The body count rises to 7. The ooze is lost and unaccounted for in the sewers with the number hanging in limbo. The eyes of Baldur's Gate are drawn to the incident.

When Mercy Experiences Travesty

Morning came early, too early, as a pillar of flame was brought down in the streets just outside the Temple of Ilmater. The melee was short lived as a large, swift, black ooze were chased from the streets into the sewers by Brother Marcus and a nearby Watch patrolman.

The damage was already done: one of the junior clergy were killed as well as one patient. A third body was found near a sewer grate.

The slime was lost by the Watch as they headed into the sewer and are still loose in Baldur's Gate. The Flaming Fist and the City Watch are on high alert and unease starts to spread in the city. Whispers and rumors quickly circulate of where they may next surface. Other details regarding the ooze, where it came from, how it got in, the rumors are still spreading wildly and are hard to discern.[/i]
An interested party follow leads from the original caravan attack, following a trail to northern Amn. Crossing the political boundaries draws further eyes to the incidents and increases the complexity for all involved.

Rumors swirl of the return of a familiar Lantanna ship and the self proclaimed "Faerun renounced" treasure hunter. The vessel once again sets sail from the harbor of Baldur's Gate. Returning with the crew, besides wealth, are troubling memories and suspicion. Meanwhile, the phrase "weaponized slime" is gaining traction in all rumor mills.

The Hardly Floatsum Returns

Early in the morning, the Hardly Floatsum, captained by the Lantanna renegade noble Fluazifop Dippledop, can be seen returning to the Harbor of Baldur's Gate and unloading a healthy cache. The flag of Lantan flies proudly from the odd ship, which is equipped well with Lantanna machinery.

Confrontation in Soubar
Image

Rumors fly out of Soubar of an epic confrontation between Mag, the bartender of the Winding Way Inn and Agents from Dragonspear Castle. Two humans accompanied by several imps attempted to extort tribute out of Mag and those in Soubar. Mag refused and the Agents swore that her successor would pay them tribute.

Violence erupted as several slimes spilled from a woman's robes, growing rapidly in size, ablaze in fire to assault Mag. Battle magic sounded as the confrontation esculated and all of the residents of Soubar present ran for their lives.

The rumors of what they vary tremendously from the shock and carnage. Some say Mag appeared as some sort of lizard, some a beholder, some an illithid, some as her usual self. Magic swiftly and strong knocked back the oozes in a tidal wave of slime as the ground threatened to swallow everyone whole from the shaking. The earth was blackened, fires burning and smouldering as both arcane and divine magic hung heavy in the air like fog. The resulting devastation was vast with blood and ooze spread over the ground, painting the a large grassy knoll in a tapestry of horror.

The battle ended quickly as two of the humans grabbed an imp and teleported away. Mag herself quickly left the carnage, hiding away.
