Paladin or dreadmaster build please...

Hello. I'm looking for a build that would be able to turn the balor boss and most other stuff . Paladin if possible or a dreadmaster cleric or something similar . I never had a char that uses turn on deaf feat for anything than divine might so I have no idea how is turning calculated.

Cleric30 with lots of charisma and either planar turning or evil domain.

Best is probably cleric30 of Lathander with sun domain and planar turning epic feat.

But you probably don't need to be that good at turning.

How is Turn creature calculated ? Does CHA play a factor in it ?

Never seen the Balor turned by a Paladin. Full CHA Cleric can do it but not a Paladin.

Weird. Someone ingame told me that the max HD a pure paladin can turn is HD31. He was pretty positive that the pally can turn the Balor.
Would it matter if the pally takes Improved/Empower Turning feats ?

Maybe but what is the point? The Balor is a unique challenge yes but he drops the same amount of loot as the Frost king and the frost king is infinitely easier to solo and or fight.

It would be just nice to see that big bad boss turned completely helpless . I guess for self pleasure lol.
I'd like to gank the Balor like that. Besides... the chests there are higher CR maybe than the frost castle ?

So, you just need to make a high charisma Aasimar Paladin 30 build.

Get the following feats:
Level 1: Power Attack
Level 3: Extra Smiting
Level 6: Divine Might
Level 9: Divine Shield
Level 12: Improved Turning (If you can)
Level 15: Empower Turning (If you can)
Level 18: Blindfight
Level 21: Planar Turning (If you got 21 charisma by now)
Level 23: Great Smiting I, Great Smiting II, (If you got 25 Charisma by now)
Level 25: Great Smiting III
Level 26: Great Smiting IV
Level 27: Great Smiting V
Level 29: Great Smiting VI, Great Smiting VII

Ability scores:

STR: 14 (+8 from spells)
DEX: 10
CON: 10
INT: 10
WIS: 14 (+1 Ability increase on level up, the last one to make use of a +3 wisdom item)
CHA: 20 + 6 (Ability increases on level up) (+8 from spells)

+ 6 (Base strength of 14, +8 from Paladin Spells)
+ 5 (Grreater Magic Weapon)
+ 3 (Divine Favor)
= 44

Your Smite Evil damage: 240

Any paladin30 build with 21+ Charisma can solo the Balor easily.

Simians Smiter is one option. An EDM paladin can do it as easily. Another alternative is the Crusader kit which works similar to the typical smiter/HighCHA paladin - this is the current paladin build i am levelling. From all the above, the EDM paladin30 is the best all rounder - good in turning, decent smites, good in PVE.

Clerics, especially those with the evil domain have it much easier. They get planar turning for free and in combination with Hierophants Master of Energy feat, they can get away with much lower Charisma (14 for example ). With that, you can build them any way you like whether it is a high STR meleer or a high wisdom DC cleric.

So i guess classic EDM Pally is the way to go. Or alternatively EDM Crusader but i guess i'll need to have Empower Turning for that to work with Balor ?
I was also looking at Classic EDM pally but with shield feats. Mainly for shield slam since STR would be 30 the slam would have good DC.

Also how does Paladin Caster Level work against dispells ? Is it only CL for paladins against dispells only 1/2 of the paladin level ?

A paladin30 with 21+ cha and improved/plannar turning can affect 28-32hd outsiders. I think it's enough for balor. Empower turning increase the turning damage which means it will do much help if you attempt to turn a group of balors.

Could also go Paladin (Divinate 19) and Morninglord of Lathander 10 for increased turning and EDM attempts. Only has slighter BAB.
