Master Alchemist needs more class skills.

You can not be a master anything without the proper skills.
- Skill Points: 2 + Int Modifier.
- Class Skills: Craft Alchemy, Craft Armor, Craft Weapon, Concentration, Lore: Arcana, Lore: Local, Spellcraft

Thats 7 skills in total. 2 of them are craft armour and weapons, sooooo really that means 5 skills in total. 1 of them is Lore:local which is basically the 'micro penis' of all the lore skills. So that is really just 4 class skills. For a mage class (especially one claiming to be a master of something) that's not good.

A master Alchemist could have up to 7-12 or so skill points to spend per level. But in building my MA - Im kind of stuck trying to choose.


I would say the class needs:

- Lore:Nature in order to have knowledge of plants animals and nature type things to find, identify, and collect as alchemy components. How does really know a quality 'toe of frog' when one see it?

-Appraise: The arcane scholor gets this class skill, and all they do is read and wrtite stuff. The Master Alchemist is probably used most often as a merchant class so therefore I think its needed. A master Alchemist would not only be a smooth operator when selling his potions and stuff, s/he would also be have a lot of experience buying components. S/he would know exactly how much to pay for an 'eye of newt'!

Survival, since we use that on the server to actually collect materials along with Craft Alchemy.

Heal, since that seems to fit the "apothecary" role. Knowledge of anatomy, biology, healing salves, etc.

I'm kind of surprised appraise is not a class skill already.

I updated the wiki on 5th april. tough not stated in the ingame class description i had access to appraise and use magic device on lvl ups of my MA.

Apraise and umd...that's not bad.
Heal would be a good idea as well.
I would take lore nature over survival though. Survival was used for harvesting plants as sort of a lack of other skills that would apply. Lore nature came in after and I think would fit better.

So we just need heal and survival/lore nature and we are golden.

I don't see UMD mentioned in the 2da for the class or the in-game description. I'm trying to clean-up the wiki on the actual class skill for this class. Is the UMD skill an artifact of old?

It does seem like the 2da gives it Appraise, but the in-game description doesn't mention this. Is that intended?

The master alchemist is a spellcaster who specializes in producing potions and elixirs that reproduce the effects of spells of 4th level or higher. Even spellcasters who dabble in alchemy gain the ability to improve the rate at which they can produce potions, which for adventuring spellcasters can reduce the amount of time they must spend preparing for their next quest. Specifics: When using the Alchemists brew ability you are able to brew potions at 85% of the normal ingredient cost.

<b>Alchemist Brew</b>
Type of Feat: Class
Prerequisites: Master Alchemist 1
Specifics: When on: the next spell cast will be brewed into a potion, provided there is an empty vessel to store it in. The Master Alchemist class gains access to a second brewing ability, alchemist brewing, through which he can brew elixirs. Elixirs scale to the alchemist's casterlevel, except for a select few spells which are capped on grounds of server policy. The maximum casterlevel supported is 30. Minimum casterlevel available for any craftable spell is 10. A Master Alchemist may choose at which casterlevel to brew his elixirs. But not his regular potions. His cost reduction feats apply for both elixirs and potions.
When imbibing elixirs toxic effects may occur. These vary depending on the level of toxicity and previous potions imbibed. The more toxic, the harsher the effect. If this occurs in combat it may severely incapacitate you, leading to death. In most cases you will be able to safely imbibe two elixirs. You will however need to consult with your local master alchemist if this is safe or will likely lead to trouble. Some elixirs don't combine well with others...

Specifics: The Master Alchemist may ignore the level 3 limit for potion brewing, extending it with his class level, up to +4.

<b>Alchemical Fire Mastery</b>
Type of Feat: Class
Prerequisites: Master Alchemist 3
Specifics: Once per day the Master Alchemist may create a number of perfected alchemical fire grenades equal to half of his master alchemist levels. These cost 135 gp per grenade.

<b>Unrivalled Brewer</b>
Type of Feat: Class
Prerequisites: Master Alchemist 5
Specifics: When using the Alchemists brew ability you are now able to brew potions at 70% of the normal ingredient cost. You also become immune to the toxins present in elixirs.
