Right click your character and select Conditional examine. This thing is not advertised enough.

Characters with different classes, different races, different skill checks, will get different descriptions of your character.

Just became aware of it last night. Very neat. Given the agony of writing my original examine, I'm... not real sure I'll dive into it. Because work. So. Much. Work.

Aware of it, and find it interesting. I haven't bothered to try making one yet. I've seen several people walking around with regular examine saying basically, "Check. Conditional. Examine. Fool."

We may want to put it on the wiki. Maybe even a subcategory, "character customization," or something. Hmm.

I have looked at the conditional examine and after finally doing a really good examine for Danny G'Louvre my most recent PC I was a bit overwhelmed by the new high speed high tech stuff you just introduced so a decent wiki and tutorial on it would be great!

Been playing with it ever since it was put in! Even when it was bugged :D Though, I've gotten questions about how it works. Maybe if someone has the time, a tutorial (with pictures) might be in order.

I noticed there's a button that I think transfers your original examine into it. But I haven't tried it so I'm not sure.

I've been using it for a small week now. Good stuff!

Usage is pretty simple once you figure it out. When you select a skill on the list, enter a value that must be met (minimum modifier) and press to insert, it will put a line of gibberish in your text. This line of gibberish contains the skill chosen and the value entered. What comes after this line of gibberish and before a potential next line of gibberish will be displayed to people who meet the requirement.

To see the text without gibberish press 'examine' or 'raw text' or 'analyze somethingsomething'.

You'll want to save character a lot, probably. I spent an hour typing things in, saving in the tool along the way, and lost it all when the server crashed. Which it does.

Always re-log when updating the character description. Makes sure you won't lose it.

I actually have "You feel like you should look closer at this man ((Using Conditional Examine!)) to see what you can discern." as my normal examine now. Have since it stopped being bugged. :)

I tried for 15 minutes to input a description into it and constantly got errors... something to do with the spacing, or the words used...?? I had no idea how to make it work, got frustrated, and gave up. :snooty:

I relate to the comment someone made before about being to intimidating, a lot of work. What I did ( do :) ) is have a basic description then add more to it slowly. Especially when past events have physically affected your char a spot roll can be added where other characters who make the roll can see a wound. An additional Lore Nature for example can be added to give more detailed information about where that wound came from.

Did you use & signs or anything else that's in those lines of gibberish that tell it what skill the following text is for?
