Weapon Damage
Some weapons have a set damage (eg +2 divine) as well as a race-specific damage (+1d4 vs undead) - does anyone know if these are additive or not? (for example I'm thinking of the mace Lichbane here: +4 enhancement, +1d4 vs. undead, +2 divine damage - when I fight undead, is that +2+1d4 or only +2?)

Re: Weapon Damage
ALMOST all divine damages stacks and ALMOST all magic damages stack. So yes your +2 divine with 1d4 vs undead which is divine do stack and you do 3-6 damage per hit against undead on top of your normal weapon damages.

Re: Weapon Damage
Excellent, thanks for confirming! So I take it any race-specific damage is always magical?
On another note, does anyone know which types of damage are good vs certain types of monsters? (eg I know bludgeon is strong vs undead?)

Yes.Quidix wrote:Excellent, thanks for confirming! So I take it any race-specific damage is always magical?
Well, fire against frost giants and frost against fire giants. 50% increase in elemental damage against the elemental vulnerability. I can't think of much else where a certain kind of damage is actually extra potent. Fire elementals are weak against cold damage. Water elementals are immune to both cold and fire damage, so it doesn't swing both ways there.Quidix wrote:On another note, does anyone know which types of damage are good vs certain types of monsters? And bludgeoning damage isn't strong against undeads. In fact, it's weak against zombies, who get bludgeoning damage resistance. Skeletons get piercing and slashing damage resistance. Bludgeoning weapons hit skeletons for normal damage, in other words. And vampires couldn't care less if it's a hammer or a sword or a spear they're being hit with. Got to have a silver weapon there.
So it's not so much about things being weak against specific weapons or materials or damages. Most of the time, it's the fact that they're just resistant towards everything except those specifics.
I don't mean to sound like I'm nitpicking semantics here, but it is actually important to make this distinction, as some mobs - as I mentioned - are in fact weak against certain elements. It's just not very prevalent.

Thanks Deathgrowl - I may indeed have been unclear! I intended to ask about these specific 'exceptions', of which you already mentioned two:Deathgrowl wrote:Most of the time, it's the fact that they're just resistant towards everything except those specifics

Undead are damaged by fire and acid. Exception is the boss dracolich while undead is immune to those damages. RUH ROH REORGE.......Quidix wrote:Thanks Deathgrowl - I may indeed have been unclear! Devils, Vampires, Lycans DR is bypassed by Alchemical silver. Also the Yuan-Ti Queen's DR is bypassed by this as well. Some higher level Devils require Silver/DR and Magic+1/DR (This means your weapon must be at lest +1 EB or higher!) and boss level devils I.E. Pit Fiends require Silver and a holy weapon. ( this means the weapon has the good descriptor as part of it enchantment. Worry not you can obtain this with a bless weapon wand or align weapon from a Cleric or Favored Soul!)
Demons & Witches DR is bypassed by Cold Iron. Boss level demons I.E. Balors need Cold Iron and the Good descriptor to hurt.
Slimes are pretty much immune to damage not blunt and or magic.
The question is not what does MORE damage to enemies here but more WHAT ALLOWS ME TO ACTUALLY DAMAGE enemies.
Carrying around a few weapons kind of becomes standard at epic levels. By far the most handicapped damage type though on this server is Piercing. This however does not really apply to bows because bow builds do so much damage in the first place and there is a bow that is piercing and blunt damage anyway.

Re: Weapon Damage
That is very helpful!
Sounds to me that alchemical silver is by far the most useful material type then?
Is slashing better than piercing in any way?

This is makin' me more and more want to get into crafting with my smith. Alchemical silver weapons for all! Or cold iron, or darksteel.
