The undead Palemaster gets are better, especially if you use the... Desecrate spell from some skull item sold in Beregost. (Or Underdark)

And I guess You could have a Palamaster Vampire in your summon slot, Palemaster Animate Dead in your swarm slot, some fiendish Thaumaturge Summon in your cohort slot, your nastiest summon copied with Shadow Simulacrum in the copy slot, and then the entire server trying to put you and your army to the torch.

My vampire and animate dead is enough to hold up and create a wall for me to dish out pain to the goodies.

You cast it on the ground, and follow it up with Animate Dead, and you get more undead. It is a cleric spell, but there is some skull item that has daily cast of it.

AS for builds, you could just go for a Wizard 15/Palemaster 10/Thaumaturge 5... As long as you get 10 levels of Pale Master you are pretty much good to go.

Leveling up an offensive caster solo is never going to be particularly fast. You have only so many spells before you have to rest and if you rely on summons, NWN2 AI is crap and the summons do mediocre damage (as it's supposed to be - they should never compete with a proper fighter of the caster's level in damage!).

I've done it a few times. It works. But takes a bit of patience.

Yes, the path finding is horrible. You kind of have to learn to use the following button combination to make sure your 'pets' continue attacking enemies:

'V + W + E' or was it 'V + E + W'?

But the good thing about the large number of summons is that you can at times out number the regular mobs, which means the regular mobs tend to go down quite fast. But since you can have a rather long line of summons following you, the tail and front ends might get seperated and engage different groups of mobs and get destroyed as the result.

Thus just like with clerical Angel Summoners, it actually helps a lot to be a Gish. You can help your summons grind down enemies and rush to aid them when needed as they eventually get seperated. Polymorph Self/Shapechange with Augment Form can be almost as useful as Divine Power on a cleric.

Edit:
Yes, you can be invisible. If a fellow player lacks ways to see through your invisibility, you can actually get away with summoning undead and what not, even if your pets get grinded down to dust.

It can be bit boring to just move and command them. Thus being a gish can make it a lot more exciting for you.

i use the undead summons and other evil and demonic/fiendish summons as well. going invis doesnt work as well as getting in there with them. buffing them up will help, but it wont help as much as getting in there with them. i also find that being inside cramped dungeons is hard with a bunch of summons in tow. outside on the surface, you can let your swarm flow over the battlefield easier and with more control and viability.

Yes, and even better, since Vampire and Elite Vampire have 5hp/round regeneration.

Keep in mind... It's being seen summoning undead for that Kos. Not running around having undead kill stuff for you.

"Oh thank you, they were chasing me around this dungeon! You saved me heroes!"

Actually I just read the rules again... I couldn't find the Kos rule for being seen to create undead. I am sure it is there somewhere.

As in every game (Warhammer as a notable example), the main problem is the Necromancer behind the Undead, rather than the walking dead themselves :).

It's been gone for a long time.
