Custom character portraits

Is it possible to have custom portraits added to the server? I know that the ‘Sigil: City of Doors’ server for NWN2 has these. If implemented, the community could submit portraits and the team could select those fitting the server setting.
Is this an idea for Baldur's Gate?

I had only begun the initial setup for this project and has been a little bit on hold. All in all the project itself is not at all tedious and can/will be done when that time comes. How vague is that for an answer huh? Lol
I am hoping to create a template suitable for getting this done faster as game portraits require a certain format and size variation. Ultimately, I will create a photoshop action that will allow you to resize your portrait to these specified sizes.
