Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Ive made a Zinzerena priestess and ive chosen Death and Trickery which i am happy with but then looking at FR wiki am thinking the other domains are not totally correct.

Primarily Zinzerena is CN so should not really have Evil as a domain?

The FR wiki says Chaos, Luck, Trickery, so maybe sometime remove Evil and replace with Luck and/or with Illusion as she has Deception in her Portfolio. Death, Chaos and Trickery seems fine as they fit her portfolio.

Isn't she a chaotic evil demigod on our timeline?

She is listed as Chaotic Neutral on the BG Wiki: https://wiki.bgtscc.net/index.php?title=Deity

PLUS at character creation a Cleric of Zinzerena can select Chaotic Good as an alignment BUT NOT Neutral evil, which absolutely makes her Chaotic Neutral

In our current timeline she is CE. It is likely a mistake due to someone simply looking at 3rd lore, pretty easy one to make really.

Well either way ideally something should be changed then?

So on BG does 2e lore always trump 3e?

BGtSCC is currently in the 1e timeline so 1e lore is really all that matters. Except where 2e/3e has some bit of lore in the books that is stated to have occurred during the 1e timeline...

In any case, when it comes to gods their alignment is the alignment they had in the 1e timeline.

Well, I don't have access to all the various books, but if wiki is to be believed she was in Menzoberranzan until after the time of troubles when Lolth killed her to take her portfolio. So I suppose she is either a hero/demigod rather than a full deity in 1e... I assume she has some god-like power since Lolth killed her specifically to steal her worshipers. If she didn't have any worshipers pre-ToT (1e) why would she be slain post-ToT (2e)?

Per Demihuman Deities (2e), Zinzerena was killed (or at least banished, people aren't sure) in Menzoberazzan by Lolth during Time of Troubles, which is argumented that she did it in order to steal her worshippers. Which in turn implies she has had worshippers already.

Per Monster Mythology, Zinzerena's Alignment is Chaotic Evil (Chaotic Neutral) ((Which means she's not that much evil and tending towards neutral)).

Per all D&D editions, demigods grant divine spellcasting, hold portfolios and bestow domains. In all editions Zinzerena is referred to as a Demipower, further establishing her ability to have worshippers and priesthood.

Due to the differences between editions (And Dragon Magazine not being the most reliable source), it is pretty much a DM Team call on what are the specifics of Zinzerena in our server, her alignment and granted domains, as well as worshippers. Since we've allowed Player Characters to worship Zinzerena, it is safe to assume that there exists a cult of her in our version of Forgotten Realms Setting. (I mean, seriously. If we wanted to go completely by the sourcebook, nobody ever should be a Shaundakulan, due to the vast majority of his worshippers dying with the Fall of Myth Drannor and only 4 priests being alive in this timeline on Faerun. Which is not what we did.)

At any rate, I'll bring this up to the DM Team and we'll see what we can smith and shape out of this.

i must admit i quite like it if she is CN as that makes her the only Drow neutral deity and quite a few Drow must be CN....

Depending on edition, less than 10% of entire drow population is non-evil aligned, which is a sum of both possibly good and neutral aligned drow.

yes that sounds fair - to me 1 in 10 or so is till 'quite a few' - i guess depends on your definition of the phrase
