Requsting tiefling derivsh build.

This is low priority, so only bother with it for fun.

Restrictions:
  • Evil
  • Tiefling.
  • Halberd User
  • Maxed perform.
  • No magic (not a spellcasting class). I could live with a warlock dip, though.
  • Fully usable by level 21.
  • Shouldn't rely on rare and hard to obtain gear. Aim at +3, although I think I had a +4 halberd somewhere.
I tried Fighter 9/Rogue 4/Dervish 10/Weapon Master 7, but... it seems to be missing some punch to it and feels quite bland. (CE, ICE, Blindfight, Improved Critical, Epic Weapon Focus. Monkey Grip.. although it could max tumble, perform 3 rogue skills and get one existing skill to near maxed levels).

Currently wondering if replacing weapon master with , say, WoD would be more interesting. Another option is to ditch weapon master and just keep adding fighter levels and going after weapon supremacy.

F12, Dervish10, Frenzied Berserker5, x3 works well.
for x - i would prefer anything with evasion and get EW. (SD3 ?)

or a Fighter (8), Dervish (10), Weapon Master (7), Frenzied Berserker (5)

X3 will be probably a rogue, as it is a tiefling. However x4 would give uncanny dodge.

Frezerker, hmm.... this might make plenty of sense, thinking about it, at least they aren't required to be chaotic.

Thanks for the sugestion, I'll think it over.

However... wasn't expose weakness changed in some way?

This is the second time in a week I get to share this!

http://nwn2db.com/build/?188289

It's an old build, so with more recent content, I'd switch out Weapon Spec. for Northlander Hewing and probably Superior Initiative for One Weapon, and switch between the two.

An old build I made, Still works, with new feats you can get better AC or Damage from such.
Only Item I say it needs is Mithral Breastplate for Dervish and +4 Dex bracers, for MAX AC

This is incredibly similar to the first attempt I made, except it has no monkey grip and levels are moved around. Monkey grip would allow wielding a tower shield with a halberd.

There is a +3 towershield with monkeygrip at the store now.

Since a halberd is both slashing and piercing is it possible to add duelist levels? Even if you ignore the int to AC thing and wear light armor, the damage and deflection AC from going to level 7 is appreciated.

Completely different, you get Improved Initiative which opens Dire Charge up. 8 fighter / 5 rogue / 7 WM / 10 dervish can be a charge build capable of killing in the first round. You may be able to even take shield charge if you make sacrifices elsewhere for the free knockdown.

Halberd won’t work with Duelist, unfortunately.

If you don't want to go the Frenzied Berserker route here are a couple other splits that have synergy.

F12/D10/NWN3/R5 - Gets 5d6 sneak dice, fast movement, Evasion/Expose Weakness and Uncanny Dodge. Could change out NWN for BG and go for EDM if you wanted to as well as go F14 instead of R5, but you mentioned wanting Uncanny Dodge.

F6/D10/WoD10/R4 - Gives up Greater/Epic WF/WS and Melee Mastery, but gains two epic feats, d4 damage and more skill points from WoD levels. Also opens Spellcraft as a class skill for +3 saves vs. spells.

NWN3? Which class is that?

EDM is difficult to reach for a tiefling, as they have -2 charisma penalty. It requires sacrificing multiple bonus charisma feats. I had WoD EDM Blackguard before, that was one hell of a glass cannon.

Anyway, I'll think it over. Both WoD and Frezerker seems like interesting options.

Neverwinter Nine/ bodyguard...

I had a F12/WoD10/BG4/TK4 and it was far from a glass cannon...

I had EDM weapon master WoD with two-handed weapon and no monkey grip.
And back then there were no items granting monkey grip.
Plus I also made bunch of mistakes, like not investing into tumble.

The char was landing mean criticals on some enemies, but ate stoneskins like popcorns and required support.

Another synergetic option is Barb20 (standard)/Dervish10. Extended Rage (from item) and Dervish Dance together make for high melee damage bursts (mid40s, more with Power Attack from item) with very good AB (more than 50), AC (up to 60 using CE), and Health. You can get Improved Knockdown, Expose Weakness, One Weapon, Evasion, Steadfast Determination, and decent saves overall and the Dervish goodies compensate for the mere 6 attacks per round.

Question by the way: does the Dervish Fast Movement stack with the Barbarian one?

PS: acc. to the wiki, shield use disables Dervish Dance, so 2-handed is much better except when fleeing.

Barbarian 20/Dervish 10 works, I think Rudolph already suggested it though. Whirlwind Frenzy gives extra attack and that works well with two-weapon fighting. High strength gives a lot of Northlander Hewing damage, which in turn gets faster attack progression due to Whirlwind Frenzy. But if you have already had a Barbarian 20/Something X build, it might not feel all that fresh. Barbarian 20 builds work and rather well these days.

Anyhow, a build I would consider making is as follows:

Fighter 8/Rogue 4/Dervish 10/Wilderness Stalker 8

Basically, Dervish and Wilderness Stalker give a total of +5 AC in light armor. Which means that you just need to reach dexterity 18 to make use of standard Chain Shirt or the +3 Mithral Chain Mail sold by Elves. This lets you you pump up your other ability scores. With time you can put on some stealth equipment and do well enough as a sneak.

As for feats, going for Northlander Hewing instead of Improved Power Attack can save you one feat. Not to mention that with Dervish Dance AB bonus you can largely ignore the -8 AB from combined Combat Expertise and Northlander Hewing.

You also get heal as class skill thanks to Wilderness Stalker.

10 (Base)
+ 4 (Dexterity Modifier)
+ 3 (Natural Armor Amulet)
+ 3 (Armor Enchantment Bonus)
+ 6 (Mithral Chainmail)
+ 3 (Dodge Boots)
+ 3 (Deflection Ring)
+ 3 (Tumble)
+ 3 (Dervish AC, doesn't work with shields)
+ 2 (Wilderness Stalker AC)
+ 6 (Improved Combat Expertise)
- 2 (Northlander Hewing)
= 44

You can add Shield wand for +4 AC.
