The story begins in a small, snow covered Hamlet outside the city of Neverwinter. Rising above the hovels and neatly nestled alongside a modest stream stands the Ancestral home of the Rittermark bloodline. Not exactly a castle, although it does posses a stone wall, the manor holds a commanding view of the surroundings. Four chimneys of varying heights may puff smoke all winter long. Peering into the center of it's courtyard and a sparring match may be seen on the weekends. Weapons and armor lay upon the racks and a pair of guards stand at the gate with Spears in hand.

Born into minor nobility had it's privileges which offered him training with most weapons as well as horsemanship. Primogeniture however meant his eldest brother (of the three Heinrich was the youngest) should hold the titles, land, horses, wealth, and duty of his father. So when his father Sir Eckhart Von Rittermark passed away Heinrich became a commoner. A thousand coins and passage to any port on the coast was the afforded courtesy Heinrich was given. Baldurs Gate seemed as good a place as any to make his mark.

Taller than most, solid black eyes, dark skin, and dark hair. His teeth were of granite and his stubble of crystal. When blood is spilt it hardens as cooling lava might. His face never seems to change on it's own. No facial expression is naturally given and when one is spotted it appears forced. Despite this challenge he keeps up the appearance of a man with both confidence and means.

Heinrich is an Earth soul genasi with a drive to return to his former status. He yearns for title, wealth, honor, respect, love, and fame. He knows not the affairs of the gods or the arcane weave about him. He knows the cold steel of his blades and intends to use them.

On the Rittermark bloodline:

Heinrich's family has had its roots in the region around Neverwinter for centuries. His ancestors reigned here with care ensuring stability uncommon in other estates. Some would trace that to their earthsoul heritage. Heinrich would say it was their willingness to fight the bandits and beasts which wandered into their land. Whatever the reason most peasants were happy to be free to work the fields and gather firewood in peace. Occasional stories are told describing the Rittermark family as coming from the portals at the spine of the world. Sometimes the story is that they were altered by a druid. Sometimes the story includes a Dao that wandered neverwinter wood and was saved by a Rittermark. The truth could be any of these but only the gods know which.

The Rittermark Family Crest is a black and white quartered shield with black in the top left and bottom right, and white in the top right and bottom left.
