Hello,

I tried the Hellfire Warlock, but when I try to ''Activate'' his hellfire blast and Hellfire Sheild, it messed up.

Techincaly, its a combat mode so like combat reflex and power attack it should ''Stay'' as long as it is activated.

The hellfire sheild Always ''auto-disable'' by itself, like 6 sec after i activate it.
Same thing happen to the hellfire blast, it happened too, not Always like it does for the hellfire shield, but it happen very often that it diable by itself.

So…. why ? how ? does any other hellfire warlock had the same problem ?

Seems pointless to play this character with this ''Bug''.

Thanks for your time, you game is awesome.

Ok so there was a general question too so:

1) no one play an Hellfire Warlock
2) no one understand my question
3) no one care about this bug
4) I am the only one that had this bug

Were you using a spell or ward that prevents Constitution drain at the time? (Eg Death Ward, Shadow Shield)

Of course I do, why would someone play this character if not ?

Do you mean your warlock didnt had this problem ?

There's your issue. If you block constitution drain you cannot use your hellfire abilities (custom server change)

1) I know at least 2 players with a Hellfire Warlock, one of them has it as her main and plays her almost exclusively
2) Most of us didn't have time to read it yet, apologies
3) As Tsid explained, it's intended.
4) See above

Potions of Lesser Restoration are incredibly cheap (some 80 gp with zero appraise), and Hellfire Shield was modified with respect to its vanilla iteration to reduce the speed of the CON loss. A decent CON Warlock has no problem with the drain, and the 6d6 extra dmg on blasts for a mere 3 lvl PrC and zero feats investment are very strong.

Wands and Potions of Lesser Restoration are a "must", but it isn't a very big deal, since you turn Hellfire on just for certain fights.

Big thanks for your replies, now I understand… and wont play an Hellfire anymore.
Since the server decided to not allow to block constitution drain, this is pointless.

Good thing to know.
Thanks again.

Now that you tell this I remember, It would make sense since when I was in Fugues was unable to cast Deathward but can activate combat mode. And it was lasting with no issues.

Sorry if my sentences looks weird, English isnt my language. but i try.

You're perfectly understandable Willow, not to worry :).

Hellfire is specifically designed to give you a spike of damage when needed.

A Warlock 30 has less blast dmg (no way you can get 6d6 blast progression in 3 lvls), but can blast without keeping in mind the CON drain.

Personally speaking, I have played Warlock 27/Hellfire Warlock 3, and liked it. But Warlock 30 is objectively easier to manage, and very strong.

HFW is really strong. Trading 6d6 for 70gp is the easiest trade-off in the history of trade-offs. Learning the use takes a small amount of effort, but is worth it in the end. I do not find it anymore difficult than layering blast damages/invos. Cha/controller lock is far more challenging.

i just know about how much I want to use it and then resto when I leave a comfortable con score.

If I were to drop HFW, I would regret it later when I am searching (pointlessly) for a bump in damage.

In relation to this.

If you're running a conlock with fast healing. Does the fast healing feats deactivate if they go below the threshhold con score requirement?

Fast Healing are feats. You need the requisite CON score to pick them. Once you have the feats, they're on 24/7 irregardless of temporary changes to your constitution.
