Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

This relates to the "Bring the Necromancer 'Research Subjects'" quest, obtained from Vaszyne Ken'urdan in Sshamath, who asks the player character to obtain five corpses found in the nearby zones. The intractable placeables, labeled 'Jaluk Corpse', typically give a simple popup message of "you acquired a research subject", and once you get five of those within the window of a server reset, you can turn in your quest for a reward.

There is one corpse which doesn't want to play nice, found in the aptly named, but terribly unspecific, map called 'The Underdark'. The preceding zone, "The Underdark, West of Varallas", labels the transition here as "Goblin Lake (CR 5)". If you interact with the corpse after you've picked up another, you get an error message stating that you've already managed to find a corpse for Vaszyne, even if you haven't yet managed to gather the five needed.

If this is the first corpse you interact with after receiving the quest, you acquire an item in your inventory labeled "'Research Subject' (PQ38)". This item cannot be transferred or dropped. Interaction with the corpse does not count for the five corpses you need to collect, and the item does not go away after you finally turn in the quest. I'll be wagering a guess I'll need to get some DM help to remove it from my inventory.
