Whomever was placing the notices at the Friendly Arm Inn might notice an older notice about Tarent's Wands and Elixirs, which was moved to The Wide in Baldur's Gate. If such a notice was seen there'd be little to say if such a man was still available, but should the man leaving the notices be familiar with Mudd's Auctions or the city of Baldur's Gate he or she would likely know that the Master Alchemist is still active.
