Help with GOG, windows 10, and crashing?

So I recently purchased a new laptop and decided to download nwn2 onto it. Since it doesnt have a disk drive and steam no longer offers nwn2 I had to get it from GOG. Unfortuneatly it isnt playing nice. When I try to load into the server the loading bar gets about 4/5ths full and it crashes. So I tried running in admin mode and compatability mode. The thing is this seems to boot GOG Galaxy up in compatability/admin mode but not the game itself. I do not have skywings on there yet and the hardware should be plenty powerful. All drivers are up to date. Any ideas?

such a nightmare. don't even bother DLing Skywings CE. It will run like garbage and crash a bunch.
The end of NWN2 PW will not be a dying player base, but an extinction of Win7 to run it.

I run on win 10 with no CE and no issues. Do you have something in the background causing issues? Make an exception at your firewall maybe?

I run it just fine on my windows 10 64 bit desktop with and without CE.
Is there anyway to bypass GOG Galaxy?

Mine is a GOG version as well. Can you go into the GOG file and run it directly from the EXE file?

Tried that, didnt work.
I get to "Loaded 1 of area updates" before it crashes.

I can use a GOG download AND with Crossover (windows emulator), and it works great.
Did you do a complete NWN2 + extensions download from GOG, then a manual install? My general experience with GOG is that installing games via their Galaxy interface (do-me) that shit up good!
Alternatively, you can find a NWN2 Diamond complete package on a Torrent site, then simply plug in your CD Keys from GOG at install.

Send me a memory dmp generated file from the crash. Minidump preferrably.
Enable DMP generation from the registry :

I don't know how to find the registry
I tried a reboot and reinstall but it didn't work. I think I will just return the laptop and buy another.

Under the Windows 10 search bar, type in "Registry Editor" without any " symbols and you should get what's presented in the screenshot bellow.
Run that and from there, follow the guide that Aspect of Sorrow presented. If you still would like to send them the minidump.

Found the registry, added the file to it. Crashed the game several times. Couldn't find the dump anywhere. I hate windows 10....
Sorry for wasting everyone's time. This laptop is being returned on Friday. Any suggestions as to what I should get instead? This one is a Lenovo y520 i7 7th gen with gtx1060 16 gb ddr4 256gb SSD and a 15" screen. It had a ton of bloatware....

I doubt the hardware is your problem, unless a Driver is causing the issue, which again is then software.

Just to comment on GoG Galaxy... Any game installed to galaxy is still on your hard drive. If you go to the file where those games are installed you can open them directly with the executable.
