Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Having a problem with AD, when loading files to be downloaded I get an error message stating

"Now downloading bg_S1.tlk (attempt1)
Could not open file C:Users\Myname\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\tlk\bg_S1.tlk.lzma for writing.
Please check permissions and ensure that the file is not in use."
I have read of the lzma issues in this forum but when I check my bg_S1 file it is under tlk format and not lzma like in the error message. I have checked my HAK files as well and modules folder and there is no lzma files anywhere. When it comes to the bg_S1 error I am at a loss.

I had issues like this once a year ago or so and I decided to not play instead of try and fix it, yet when I logged a few months later the issue was no longer there, so I was wondering if this is a problem on my end or something else.
ps: I have tried to log to SCOD and the sameish error happens with that server as well just a different file.

I tried multiple times and always get the same message, what has me confused is the "permissions" and "in use" parts of the error message, unlike other peoples "cannot verify files" error.

Well I put the most recent bg_s1.tlk to my dropbox. Try overwriting your existing file in your MyDocs/NWN2/tlk folder?

This should work, though if it's not extracting it on its own then there's likely a permissions issue with your Documents folder and this issue will recur at every update to the TLK.

Ok so I tried the file replacement but no dice. Is there a way to give the game permission to access the files or vice versa? It always says the same thing that it's either permission related or in use.

The process should go like this:

1) Close NWN2 entirely.
2) Download Tsidkenu's file.
3) Move Tsidkenu's file to (Your PC)/Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/tlk
4) When it asks to overwrite, say yes (or if it doesn't ask to overwrite because it didn't download at all, just move it right on in)
5) Load up NWN2 from desktop
6) Try to log in!

If that doesn't work, following the steps exactly (and keeping in mind the tlk folder is in your Documents folder, not your install folder), let us know!

Ok so I tried Maecius steps and the file overwrites correctly but I still get the same message then my first post(I did put the file in the TLK folder in documents). The download stops even before it starts the first step and tells me the whole permission and in use error again. I'm a bit of a amateur with computers but this is the first time I encounter a problem like this

The only other thing my limited computer knowledge can think of is to ensure you're running the program as an administrator. Right click your nwn2 launcher/exe or Client extension exe and select 'Run as Administrator' in your compatibility options. Maybe that will help overcome this odd documents folder read error?

I remember that once I switched over to Win10 I could only run nwn2 properly in administrator mode. May help you, may not
