Chaos (the undead) magic

Unread post by Bobthehero »

I was fighting Chaos just sometime ago, it casted some paralysis spell, however according to the log, I passed all my fort saves, I was still paralyzed, what gives? No save spell or some sort of shenanigan?

UH, you'd think there'd be mention of that on the logs or something

It's usually the first spell she casts.

Not in that case, she went with uh... something that did damage every round with a fort save and during that I got paralyzed, hence my confusion. Still I would have liked a ''grapple check failed'' or some sort of knowledge of what's going on.

Maybe she casted a Power Word Stun.

Power Word Stun does not have a saving throw.

Sounds like both Bigby 7 (grapple, no checks in log, no damage) and Bigby 8 (fort save vs stun, 1d8+11 damage per round).

Understatement of the century. I just landed a death attack on her, she rolled a 1, failed the save(... yeah yeah, undead, I know) then proceeded to 1 shot vamp feast me

I even applied some really high DC INT poison(Intellect devourer stuff) before the fight and the effects didn't even show in the combat log... one day though, one day!
There are no level 30's, only level 20's with benefits...

What drives me frickin nuts about Chaos is the AI programmed (?) into her. She always just casts Bigby's then hides in invisible, then pops out, casts a Bigby's again, then back to invisible.

I've learned to slow kill her with this program, but sometimes the Boss Timer goes off before she is dead, and I'm left hanging (though it's not like one gets much for the win anyway—last two kills she dropped 98xp and a stack of +2 bullets and an empty ale Stein, respectively).

If you're not killing Chaos in 3 rounds, you're doing something wrong Steve

If you want attrition, Wall of Stone/Ice/Thorns and/or Programmed/Malicious Image works a treat to make Chaos burn through her spells. I used to put 50 SR on my Sharran's Programmed Image, chuck an extended darkness, extended wall of stone then sit back and enjoy the fireworks. When 'they' were done, a DC 39 vamp feast for the mobs and a few Mass Heal spells on Chaos and it was all over.

3 spells cast. Orb of Fire maximize. Orb of Fire maximize. Orb of Fire lesser. Done and done

or bigby 9 which does both in one spell, bc im pretty sure bigby 8 is just the crush and doesnt pin ever, 9 tho does crush and grapple/stun on failed save
everyone is evil till proven otherwise

Wand of least spell mantle or a cheap summon takes care of the Bigby's

Try closing the distance to her and bypassing her minions using Boots of Etherealness.
Works great!
