Crop yields around the friendly arm inn have bolstered of late as many farmers have been seen coming to and from the inn area, some say there farmlands have never seen such a large yield in years, while others.... are less fortunate... 2 days ago a farmer stumbled into the friendly arm inn sick, his eyes bleeding, his sight gone.. all but darkness remained. When a few adventurers tryed to aid him, there magics of healing failed... it is rumored the man began to convulse after being healed, and moments later he was dead. Others have started to show signs of the sickness and it is widely becoming known as a strange form of sight rot. warnings are posted outside the friendly arm inn concerning the sickness and reads...

"All those whom are showing signs of sight rot are required to report to the temple for further examination and treatment. signs of the sickness include : itchiness of the eyes, continual blurred vision, and possible bleeding of the eyes. if you see anyone showing these symptoms please report them to the guard at once. Furthermore the temple of llmater has been notified of the epidemic and has sent a few priests in response to investigate the situation."

More in reflecting around the area is the uncontrolled growth of plantlife in the area, the cloakwood forest seems thicker, the grass taller, leaves and flowers more vibrate. if this problem is not dealt with soon, the very forest itself might expand onto the tradeway roads.

Sometime after meeting in the Grove, the Thunderbird accompanies Admorin on a patrol of Cloakwood and the surrounding lands.

While on patrol:

-->The Thunderbird attempts to seek out and commune with the local spirits of nature while on patrol (Relevant Wards: Detect Spirits, Commune with Nature, Death Ward, Blessing of the Spirits, Warding of the Spirits) in order to inquire about the local sickness and the recent plant-growths.

-->The Thunderbird also has heard that a shadow druidess had utilized dryads recently, and had also been poisoning water with a toxic that caused plants to grow wildly and men to die. He would attempt to specifically commune with the local dryad population, to discover if they know anything of the matter.

-->The Thunderbird, should he encounter any Shadow Druids, attempts to engage in conversation with them to learn any information. If they attacked, he would move to defend himself but refrain from killing them if possible.

*Sane Fensen has been noted to show signs of itching of the eyes , rubbing them constantly , though if confronted about this he would refuse treatment , saying that it can not be cured by simple spells or medicine as he was told , saying he will continue to toughen it out until an antidote is found*

At the edge of the cloakwoods three figures move through the night, they find a safe spot and begin their assessment of the nearby woods that are rumored to be poisoned or diseased. (two silvanites and an Eldathian.

All whom enter the cloakwood forest would notice a abundance of plant growth, more so than normal. The thick undergrowth is like that of a jungle, Vision is obscured by the plant life and creatures seem more active than normal. The sounds and smells are overwhelming to the senses, and those of the ranger or druidic blood can feel the teeming forces intwind into the very forest itself, though it is quiet beautiful... this place grows very dangerous.

Rumors spread about the threat within the cloakwood forest, the fanatical druids that reside here seem to be unflintching in there resolve. Locals speak about a sound that echoed out from deep inside the woods just a day ago... some sort of creature... A group of adventurers investigated the matter and returned shortly after battle torn...

Siegfried Mance (known as Pyre Ironmantle) begins work on a cure for the poison. With a sample retrieved by his kin, Agartha Ironmantle who suffers from it, he places a stone vial on the table in front of himself. He starts by casting Detect Magic, Detect Poison, and Analyze Dweomer. His knowledge of alchemical ingredients and their properties is vast (26 craft alchemy at level 13 while buffed during his work.) He uses a mage hand spell to handle the poison. Standing a safe distance away he begins to split it into smaller batches. One batch has a restoration potion poured into it and it is checked again with the detection spells. Another batch is infused with a neutralize poison potion and the same spells are cast. The third batch finds itself being distilled with water and being run through a series of contraptions.



Dispels are cast upon the finished product and it is also checked. As he finishes up he records all he has, and has failed to learn. The samples are put into clearly marked glass bottles and saved for later use. He takes a walk over to Halbazzer Drinn at Sorcerous Sundries and then Ragefast to see if either has any suggestions.

Admorin Oakbound, Druid of Cloakwood, continues his circular routes around the cloakwood gathering information on the current state, casting communes seeking information on the Queen (shadow Druids), the troubled plant sites, and Fey that might choose to converse and offer insight.

Rumors have it that a large colony of giant ants moved into the lions way attracted by the extreme overgrowth from the cloakwood forest. they began harvesting the growth and shortly after a group of spiders move into the area looking for an easy feast upon the ants. the insects fought over territory until a large group of adventurers came to investigate the matter. upon combating the insects a giant ant hive was found built just under the surface, after a good deal of battle it is said the matter was dealt with and no more of the creatures have been seen in the area since.

Reader Thrandlwyn Morticarys alongside the Candlekeep persons assigned to the expedition under his authority, would establish a base camp at the northern-most portion of the Lion's Way. The Avowed stationed here have carried with them thick clothing and equipment from the Fortress-Monastery so that they might conduct what experiments they can in the hopes of discovering a method of first, trying to slow down the speed at which the flower spreads, and second discovering any way in which the abnormal resilience of the flower could be circumvented. Other avowed are advised to conduct research along these lines and with a strict observance of safety in the areas of handling the flowers, the cleaning of equipment and clothing after returning from areas afflicted by the flower, and furthermore limited contact with the castle itself outside of reports delivered via sending.

The Reader himself will work in cooperation with the avowed, offering his skills in the areas of (Arcana 18, Spellcraft 22, Alchemy 13, and Geography 10). As with all research he will utilize his normal spells, such as Superior Resistance, Protection from Spells, and Legend Lore (+17)

*Sane along with Natariel has been heard spreading a rumor that an antidote was found for this sickness , though it is difficult to produce in larger quantities .

The old druid and the Elven Mage would explain the process as best as they understood it and mention Lykander as the alchemist responsible for distilling it .

Sane would also notably show no signs of the poisoning himself anymore .*

Lom Longstride an elf and hunter, set out for vengeance, having made himself aware of the progress so far stocked up on supplies and equipment and set off deep into the Cloakwood intent on finding and stalking a Shadow Druid. He hopes by watching events for long enough he will get sight of the Queen, or perhaps a clue to her whereabouts. The shadowy figure is patient, resolved and set for the long haul.
