Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

This has been happening a lot to me lately, more than usual. The only change I've made in my playing is having a summoned vampire warrior with me most of the time lately. Does that cause crashes?

Do you have levels in Arcane Scholar of Candlekeep?

It's a known bug that if you have levels in ASOC, and you have Hot-keyed any spell that would normally go over a level 9 spell (( such as an Empowered Polar Ray)) that the game will crash upon transition.

The affected character, who is a sorcerer, does indeed have arcane scholar levels and he can empower Polar Rays, but the only spell I have hot-keyed is Vampiric Feast.

I have a wizard with empowered Polar Rays memorised all the time (but not hot-keyed), and she doesn't crash this often.

Do you use the Client Extension or not? The issue Kitteninablender mentions is fixed by the CE.

I always use it.

I've also started to crash in the game incredibly often; I think I've had around 5-10 crashes in the last few days, while before I never used to crash on transitions. I've even had several incidents where everyone in the area have crashed simultaneously.

Personally I reinstalled the game completely a bit over a week ago, which fixed most of my earlier crashing problems immediately. Thus, I don't think that the problem is local, but rather something to do with recent changes (or possible issues with the server).

Hopefully this helps to locate the problem.

Do you notice a difference in the frequency of crashes depending on which character you are logged in as? I have played a wizard and sorcerer almost exclusively since I've begun to be afflicted by the constant crashing.

I've been playing spellcasters mainly as well, including clerics and wizards.

First I thought it was the summons but it has happened also without any summons being present and also when I'm alone (so as in not in a huge team). The most recent crash came just now, when I was moving from Reaching Woods to Northern Trade Way. One other time I can recall a crash happened when moving from from FAI to Southern Trade way. Just after writing this I experienced another crash while moving from Souther Trade Way to Candlekeep.

Check your hotbars.

Maybe even clear them all to see if that fixes your crashes?

If you put the wrong combination of spells on a hotbar (particularly meta-magic spells that raise an innate spell level above level 9 -- like if you have Arcane Scholar levels and hotbar a Quickened Bigby 6), you will very often crash yourself on transitions.

What spells do you have active? It could be due to some custom spell too, if the game doesn't know what to do with a spell effect on transition.

As far as I can recall, my wizard doesn't have any spells and very few items to begin with in his quickslots, while the cleric only has tons of item but just ordinary buff spells. Neither of them have ASoC levels or anything that'd exceed their normal caster levels.

The crashes aren't really that consistent either; they just happen here and there, but they started to become more -frequent- recently. Also do note that they started to crash the whole group at the same time, which is all new problem for me at least.

Thus I dont think that my quickslots should've cause them.

The only spell I have on my quickslots is Vampiric Feast. As for other things, just the usual that I have always had: potions, scrolls and class abilities.
