Contact Medallion

Unread post by SyntheticRose »

This item doesn't come with instructions! My party and I were all given Contact Medallions by another player recently, and I've had more than one person struggling to activate them. Might I suggest adding the instructions on how to use the Sending spell into the description of the Contact Medallion? The Sending spell, as well as Scrolls of Sending, show the syntax you're supposed to type in and the rules about 25-word messages, but the amulet (the main method for non-casters, who may never have cause to look up the instructions on the wiki or see the proper spell description elsewhere in-game) strangely does not!

So are there still plans to add instructions on how to use these things?

Dunn will gladly teach just about anyone how to use them, ic, but to explain it oocly:

You must first equip the item that casts it, the contact medallion, and it must have valid charges to initiate a use, it takes 3 charges, and they come loaded with 50.

Then, I suggest pre-typing the message that you want to send, but without hitting enter, for example, if you were to send a message to the character, Michael Dunn, you would type it like so:

Michael Dunn Message: Words

IC'ly, a sending can contain 25 spoken words, though technically you can send more. Notice that you have to spell the characters name exactly, and failure to do so will return a yellow message saying, 'you don't know anyone by that name' or some such.

After you've pre-typed the message, activate the amulet on your character, then, hit enter. It should go through! If you mess up, no sweat, it has a timer and you can retype the message without using another activation, as long as you do so in a timely fashion and don't swap zones.

Thanks for being the hero we need.
