First Name: Unknown
Last Name: He won't say
Alias: Croaker
Appearance:
Race: Human
Age: Late 30's. He's not sure, he's lost count.
Height 6'2"
Weight: 220 lbs.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown, shaved at the sides and raised up on top, in the style of certain dwarves.
Facial Hair Style: Bearded
Personality Profile:
General Health: In good health
Deity: Tempus and the Red Knight
Initial Alignment: Lawful Neutral -- Don't mistake Croaker's blunt country mannerisms as chaotic; he is a disciplined soldier with a brutally strict personal and professional moral code.
Profession: Mercenary
Base Class & Proposed Development: Fighter, Man-at-Arms, Weapon Master
Habits/Hobbies: The typical soldier's hobbies -- barracks talk, drinking, games, and drill disguised as adventuring; has an uncharacteristic love of fashion, since his travels would often take him to the same place; he watched fashions evolve even as buildings and governments stayed static and unchanging
Languages: The common tongues of humans, elves, and dwarves (the latter two picked up in his service with those races)
Weapon of Choice: Thayan khopesh (scimitar base weapon)
Background: Croaker is a mercenary from a satellite fen of the Great Swamp of Rethild who has campaigned across the land for whomever could pay his Company's hiring fee. Despite his mannerisms and general lack of gentile nature, Croaker is intelligent, cunning, and incredibly disciplined, hewing to his own moral standard and the professional ethics instilled in him by his decades of service. The Company's Captain went mad on campaign in Icewind Dale, having been shown visions of Sigil and the Lady of Pain and being promised by demons that such a place would be perfect to stage a mercenary company from, and he could get there with the right ceremonies -- which instead invited death and torment on Croaker's camp, of which he was one of three survivors (out of 312 soldiers and the various beasts of war) who fled down the Sword Coast -- their scout, Laugher, to Luskan (his home town), Croaker to Baldur's Gate, and the mute wizard Whisper to Amn in general, likely looking to Athkatla. Beyond the carnage that followed, the three survivors know nothing of the nature of the quick and merciless slaughter, but made a pact to...
Goals: ...get answers to what happened to their Company, find it, kill it, or die trying.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Croaker will never get to Sigil, and such a thing must forever remain beyond his reach. He knows its out there, but he must forever remain frustrated, because his growth must come from gaining dimensions from the single-minded campaigner he is, rather than capitulate to it completely in a self-destructive objective. He might, however, find the things his Captain mistakenly tied forever to his Company.
