Improved critical not available at level up

Gnome Favored soul / Paladin 5/3. Garl Glittergold deity (weapon of choice Battleaxe). Got weapon proficiencies for Simple and Martial. Weapon focus Battleaxe (feat from Favored soul). When I try to level up now, Improved Critical is not available.

From the wiki:
Prerequisite: Proficiency with the chosen weapon, base attack bonus +8 or higher

That's attack bonus, not base attack bonus. You have 7 BAB atm, 5 from paladin and 2 from favored soul.
