Diary of Jane Price - Agent of Baulders Gate.

23rd. - Thoughts on who is behind the war.

Dawn would soon break over the city of Baulders Gate where Jane could already feel the tugs of sleep coming to her eyes. She had spent the night up high on the outer city wall watching over a place shes called home. Sitting on the walls lip made her feel like she was some how able to soar over the city and with that came wonder of why anyone would want to destroy such a remarkable place.

As wonder turned to serious thought she remembered the cities arch-foe. The enemy of enemies, the Dragon-God, Tiamat. Jane sunk back against the city walls thinking about the Devil Armies that currently threaten the city from Dragonspear Castle. The irony of the name not escaping her either.

It was years past now, almost none of the newer adventures would know the events when Tiamat rose in the city trying to destroy it. Even after her defeat and banishment from our realm, the Dragon-God sought revenge and began a cunning plan of return to the city. This time Jane herself personally took a role, stealing an in fathomable twenty percent of the gods power and hording it away to end Tiamats return.

It was recalling this turbulent and dark time in her life that brought concern to Janes evening. When she held that gods power she had an idea of what the Queen of Evil Dragons wanted, Jane knew she wanted to return to burn their world and take revenge on the beloved city of Baulders Gate. What was also known was the Dragon-God was trapped in the hells, very hells that devils now come from.

Perhaps the grand architect of this whole invasion isn’t some Devil-Lord but the influence of Tiamat. Her plan to return. A being still strong enough to unite factions, clever enough to execute a plan and most of all, a burning desire for revenge.

((Realized these should be in her voice!))

6th - Damien Pascal and the Cult of Tiamat

I have met a number of scoundrels, villains and heroes durning my time on the Sword Coast. Often these people blend together in memory and soon fade but few have ever stood out like Damien Pascal. He was an old scruff of a man with white bristle on his cheeks whom I would torment with the name Pops. Dressed in silver steel often to sell a goodly appearance, he would pray to a nondescript god offering charms to local adventures. The man had few public vices but when speaking to him for any length you would notice a lack of personal virtues. Perhaps, it was this repugnant trait of his, a disregard for personal connections that made him intresting. These very traits in my view would lead not only to his demise but also his greatest achievement.

Late summer just before early harvest the evil dragon god Tiamat was once again rising. Rumors of her cult appearing began to run through tavern and streets alike seeking shards once belonged to their Mistress. Though information and wealth could be made from finding these shards, Damien saw something else and far more easy. Why risk life and limb for rocks that held a gods power when coin was the main want? As such the man set about posing as a member of the secretive cult of Tiamant.

It was rather amusing at first seeing this man brush aside Kolbokds for their treasure and promising them great power with his magic. Uttering a few prayers he could heal wounds and give blessings. None of which was actually from Tiamat but to the uneducated who could tell otherwise. Then one day a man approached Damien and asked about the cult. Of course Pops thought the ruse was up until the man asked to join. Damien was often quick on his feet and sought to dismiss the crazed individual who wanted to join a cult about a world ending dragon. Like anyone else would do Pops made the fellow an obscene offer.

80 bars of gold, or as the Sword Coast likes to say - 80 bags of gold. Which is about 80,000 coins. Damien explained that this would get a person entrance to the cult. To learn it’s most basic secrets and the coin would go towards projects such as a temple and fund adventures to reunite all the Dragon Shards. An obscene amount to some and what Pops thought would cause the man pause however, this was not the case as the man promptly paid in gems. Now Damien Pascal had a follower.

All in all by the time I had fully discovered Damien’s false Cult he had gained 8 followers whom all paid the entrance price. I stress entrance price as he would collect more funds from these individuals for further levels with in the cult or titles. They never did build a temple, but he often pointed to an area with a cave suggesting it would be there. When I confronted Pops, he did offer me free membership and a share of the profits if I remained quiet on the matter. Instead I took about a dozen names from his roster, scampered off to my Lord Duke Eltan and left ‘Those whom Harp” to deal with him.

Pops would escape the Coast and slowly I and the Fist broke up what remained of the Dragon cults. I would hear of brief sightings of Damien, but his sanity seamed to become in question if not strait madness. Perhaps it was due to being on the run from those he cheated or maybe the Harpers? I sometimes think that Tiamat had the last laugh and cursed him. What ever happen, he still manage to swindle one of the largest fortunes ever in the history of the Coast and that is why I remember him.
