Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

At intervals a road-wise Dwarven Stonesinger can be found perched near or within a marketplace of towns and cities and way-points where other Stout Kin have taken permanent station. Never opposed to those brethren, for he easily speaks with them and performs what appears a regular information exchange, often in Dethek.

When he is present there, in such places as the Wide of Baldur's Gate, the interior courtyard of the Friendly Arm Inn or a walled pathway leading to the Belching Dragon in Naskel, the one giving name of Simsae of clan Orcslayer, sits or stands or leans comfortably against wall or chair, idly playing a one-handed drum, and at times, humming along with the complex and varied rhythms he can manage on such a simple musical device.

For many, the music made is interesting enough to lure their attention to this Stonesinger of above-average charisma. But for most, what bring them to address the Stout would be his blanket laid out before, or next, or slightly behind him...and the items that he seems to at once guard, and offer, for sale or trade.

With regularity, this Stout addresses any that come close with curiosity by this greeting:

"The treasures of the Telormar Gultor, ye see before thee. Taken back from the clutches of fierce giants, snakemen...snakewomen!!...and most assuredly by the recently lifeless hands of the Orc. Go ahead, go ahead...take a closer look, and tell me surely if ye have coin or trade to convince me-self to part with a thing."

The Stonesinger is seen conversing with a devoted to Grumbar, speaking long over belt that the Stout had displayed among his total wares. After some discussion, the Dwarf and the squire-merchant make a sale.

Later...Simsae the Orcslayer has relocated to another of his frequent stops along the Coast Way...with new wares.

With a recent outbreak of disease in the camp near Baldur's Gate a city Representative offers 8 bags for the medical equipment

Simsae greets the woman at first with a pleasing grin and fair eyes...but after seeing the marks upon her face, he half raises his lip, and almost begins a long stare, but catches himself before lingering too long with a curious look.

"Well, ye sees, I would be holdin' out for a right treasure of gold fer this here shield...but ain't no other offers commin' me way. What say you to one-hundred-thousand coins of gold...unless anyone else here has someone to add?"

Simsae looks around, for the moment, seeing if there is any other interest...and then waits as well on the woman, to see what she can offer.

*The woman nods once, the lips curving somewhat*

- Very well...100.000 it is then.

"Sold!" says the dwarf, without much reservation. "It's worth its weight, that be a certain."

*The Woman adorned in brownish robes makes a toothy grin towards the dwarf. The dreadful eyes set far back into their eye-sockets glimmer for a moment*

- Exellent... A pleasure..Making business with you Master Dwarf.. .*nods*

*A hooded female would approach the stall, high leather boots and armor tightly fitted across her figure. She would come to a halt in front of the stout fellow, a pair of pale eyes wandering the items put on display. After a few moments she would let a silent finger rise to point at a belt* "Would you consider leaving this piece to me at a price of gold?"

Simsae greets the hooded female from within his own hooded male self. "Aye, tis even the summer months of now, and the rains ne'er a stop fallin' upon this fresh Coast." Following an invisible line of sight from the woman's finger tip to the belt he displays, a grin appears directly upon his lips, in response to her interest. "A might holy person's girdle, that it be, that it be. A blessed being one becomes, wearing that belt. A faith healer extraordinary, I reckon!" Simsae pours on a bit of the sweetness in salesmanship. "Te be quite the honest Stout I be, I tell ye that I was a wishin' for somethin' of value in Trade...ye sure ye ain't got nothin' to offer in such ways?" Simsae attempts to get the woman to consider what options in a thing-for-a-thing she could muster, before any talk of coin begins.

"Greetings, kin. Fine wares ye've got here," Saurvi says as his eyes hone in on the newly displayed light armor up front. "Think we could make a deal on this here? I think it's my size!"

The Stonesinger views the item offered for trade, and hums to himself as he does so, as if gaining insight to the belt shown him, its history, its power. However, it does not take long for Simsae to answer the woman: "Aye, tis a fine thing ye have there, I canna deny that. But such a belt I have none a use fer."

"An equally pleasant greeting! Tis me calling in life to learn the name and the way of any Stout that happens upon me path. And as ye happen here this day, ye see fer ye self what I've a been carrying to trade, and sometimes I can find it worth a thing to sell outright. But kin, ye offer in coin is half of what me self acquired the armor for, and with some skill and negotiation behind it in value. Dunna deny a fellow Stout also the chance to make a profit!"
