It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

I doubt many of you other than Lockonnow or Izzul really remember me. No matter how long away from BGTSCC, I always get a cheerful greeting on login from those two.
Over the years I’ve had a whole lot of fun here on BGTSCC. This last Friday brought a lot of the good memories flooding back when an old friend brought up tabletop DND. I remembered the fall of the temple before FAI, shooting arrows into giants outside Nashkel, traveling with “The Saint”, raising Wyrmblade dozens of times, and holding the line slaying trolls alongside Karond and AC. So I reinstalled and updated, and logged back in.
The server hasn’t changed. I don’t mean that in a good way. I’m not happy with the coming nerfs. I’ve never been a PvP’er, and I’ve always sought out parties for roleplay. I’ve donated money to this place I’ve loved. I’ve built decent characters with junk gear, and been mostly penniless constantly... but I had fun and was proud of the few nice items I lucked into finding in loot. I’ve used my casters to buff party’s to make high level areas playable or easier. I’ve never envied anyone for their character’s build/gear/wealth/power or judged them for their play style.
I’ve seen what kind of builds the Balance Team use, and what they make fun of. I’ve played alongside a primary scripter here who would solo the Naga for hours. Yet innocent characters I enjoy playing have been repeatedly nerfed over the years out of nothing more than hate from the vocal few.
Why should I stay here, when the I’m not a member of the inner club? Why should I rebuild my favorite character for a 5th time, when it’s nowhere near as powerful as the BS power builds run by our balancers, “for science”? Remember Evasion in fullplate? Remember exploiting Expose Weakness auto hits? I opened those cans of worms in defense of divine casters. All that arguing did what, bought divine casters a year?
I no longer care to hear platitudes about “balance” in a DND campaign that has run for a decade just fine. I refuse to be kicked in the nuts yet again and claim to enjoy it. I should look elsewhere instead of bothering to post to closed minds and deaf ears.
Is this goodbye? Probably. Thank you for the fun times, but I think we should see other people.

It is more than divine power. The lead programmers have lost their touch with the player base and don't care about those who actually play here. The server has gone to crap. There is no reason to do what they are doing one bit except for their crap bias.

Ah dunno, I think theyre fairly active IG, here and on discord.
But with posts like yours, why would they feel obligated to explain themselves? It’s very reminiscent of a tantrum, to be honest.
Or, why not put an application in for QC? (If you havent done so already). So you can see the methodology and voice your opinion directly instead of sounding like a harbinger of impending doom?

It's a role play server, if you are leaving because of a mechanical change that does not effect role play. You might want to reconsider what BG is and what it actually offers.

Pretty much this.
Though,
as it is me, I have to add that mechanics are FUN!, and because so many play on BGTSCC in order to experience those mechanics within the NWN2 game—and how they relate to D&D 3.5e and the Forgotten Realms—it is important to recognize just how much Players get tied into the effort (time, time, time...) put into acquiring that Experience, both IG/IC and OOC. Meaning: there are simply attachments.
Now, because of the 100% RCR offered, no one should
really complain. If the mechanical changes truly ruin one's Role-play, okay, we can disagree on whether that is valid, but still, it IS valid for some. But then again, with 100% RCR, you don't lose the Experience/Time spent—you can go try something new!

I have put in applications to DM and QC in the past. Only to be denied. I love it when people think I am just ranting and have zero knowledge of my actual attempts to contribute to be pushed out by bias and clique attitude here.

I look forward to these massive changes because I get to do rcr 100 and change my characters hair!!! I mean seriously, these things are great because I can remake my alts or main and try a slightly different combination of stuff with them with out losing tons of experience points! I mostly role play. I always fear rcr because I hate losing all my experience which mostly comes from roleplay. I am gonna make another Drow out of an alt.
See this as the golden Goose!
But that maybe me.
The team that determines balance, sure they know power builds. They build power builds. They use mostly power builds and shout L2P and all sorts of nonsense in a game that isn’t suppose to be WoW. I promise you these changes hurt many of their builds more then it can ever hurt a non optimal rp or fun toon. It would be nice to stop the nerfing of melee characters and maybe start buffing other some of them. After all caster get all kinds of fun stuff to do, discover new spells, dusty tomes and so forth. In the end none of this will change anything about how most of us play. If you are a group player, you will still be a group player and likely in the near future see crazy cool benefits and fun to being such.
The game is moving towards group play. It is dungeons and dragons, the title it self is plural! RcR here I come with another new character and getting to keep all my hard earned RP experience.

Well, myself has gotten quite tired of having to RCR, try to build the same char with the same face, colors, voice, height, relevel him, mule all items for just some mechanical balances.
If new classes are added it's another matter, but doing all that to a fully functional char. gets tiresome.
On the other side, i don't see the upcomming nerfs (cleric, bard, hiero) as unnecessary - they are long overdue.

All these classes will still be strong and playable.
