Appearance:

The scent of Iron, sweat and rich earthen moss cling to the blackened steel plates of her armour. Standing as a living wall of metal and menace, her five foot and seven inches and broad build mark this drowess as anything but typical of her race. Faintly glimmering tattoo's of rich amethyst mark her face, the four interlocking rings of Ibrandul a permanent challenge against those who seek to claim dominion over the dark depths.

Personality:
Virtues: Hope, Charity, Fortitude
Vices: Pride, Wrath, Greed

Stern, defiant and rabidly defensive of her adoptive family Verona is a living antithesis of lolthite values. Her youth spent as a slave to a duergar merchant smith left her internalising much of her adoptive keepers values and beliefs. She to this day holds onto much of this placing great importance in the welfare and reputation of her familia.
While oft cold and disdainful of outsiders especially those who cling to the webs of the spider, she is more than capable of mirth. Saving those precious few moments of joy scattered through out her short span of years as evidence that the world is not without meaning. Though she may struggle with the nihilism of the endless night she has found shelter within the meaning she forged for herself and through the dogma of her patron Ibrandul.

Goals and Motivations

"Forward, Forward unto darkness. Trust in Ibrandul for he has delivered you unto me" - Impenetrable Lurker Bolvar steelscale 1309DR

Verona is a driven individual and fanatically devoted to her god. His wishes are hers and more specifically she sees the eradication of Lolth and her followers as the only path to salvation for her race. Her dwarven upbringing convincing her that only through unity and toil can the Drow forge themselves into creatures able to claim a lasting realm.
Her current path leads her to Bregan D'aerthe affording her a grounding purpose in her mercenary family. One that she hopes to forge into blade strong enough to sunder the web of despair that blankets the depths.

Skills

Verona has over the course of her life developed and forgotten many skills and crafts as needed. From her time as a slave she developed an artisans expertise at forge craft. knowing just how hot to heat the metal, where the hammer should strike steel and when the metal needed to be reheated.

From her time among the raiding bands she learned how to lay in wait for an ambush, how to cling to stone and muffle the ringing of armored plates.
Most crucial of all she learned how to survive within the caverns, to tread paths through the darkness than few others dare to travel.

All of this is behind her now replaced with single-minded focus on her goal. Learning how to move and position her bulk within the fray, to weave and unweave spells cast by her foes and to gnaw at the roots of her foes pride. She is now utterly and completely a champion of Ibrandul.

Verse 1: Night falls

The squalling cry of a newborn shattered the cool tranquility of darklake, scything through the empty silence as a blade threshes wheat. A softer sound too finds it's way, drifting on the cool moist air of the cavern, the murmured comforts of a new mother holding back tears her gaze lingering on the bright amethyst orbs looking up at her from within swaddling arms.

"Laenalla, you know we can't.Tonight of all nights and with those eyes... the only kindness we can give the child is -"
The males voice soft twinged with sadness at just what he was suggesting his soothing tone met with a glare that could wither stone. "No! I won't lose her too they've taken everything else from us I can't - won't lose her as well."
The sounds of creaking leather as the male knelt down beside her gently brushing aside the stray locks of her silvery hair, the enveloping darkness of the cavern a small comfort in that still-quiet.
"She'll need a name love, something strong to withstand the trials ahead." A short stiff nod sniffing back tears the woman looks down over her daughter and in barely more than a whisper "Verona Zauvirr. Though I pray to the dark maiden she never meets -them-."

Those precious few moments of peace coming to a heart wrenching end when the telltale crunch of armored boots echoed out across the water, the short barks of the warrior's lead drifting to their ears "How can you idiots not find a half-breed and a pregnant woman, try harder or I'll recommend you for the alter in her place." The beginnings of panic setting in as the couple shared one final embrace.
Take her, you can blend in the tunnels far better than I can and it's me they're chasing after most. Kurmok owes me a favour Hide Verona with him and... her voice breaking under the crushing reality, the final time she'd see her daughter.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
