Enabling Shout?

Can we enable the shout button? It would be nice to be able to send out a shout to let anyone that is new to the server know that you have time to help or guide them, or maybe you don't have much time and need to get out some information quickly. I know there are concerns that people will abuse this, but I think we can come up with some method that will help to prevent this from happening. Maybe use the town criers and have a fee for there services.
On a separate issue, can we get a circle around your character when they use whisper mode that would only be visible to the one doing the whispering?
Thanks for your time

Anyone have an option on this matter? Good, bad or just don't care.

Same can be accomplished with tells, without spamming everyone else's chat bar.
I don't understand the purpose in the whisper mode circle, do you mean, for the range of the whispering?

An in game system that allows players to pay for messengers to deliver messages to a specific area might be interesting. I am against opening the shout channel to all players, though. That seems like it might easily devolve into shouting matches between competing factions, etc.

To my knowledge, there is no tool to limit the use of a channel.
Either open the valve or close it.
For example, limit it to only certain PCs, or shoot per hour.
Or, maybe only allow one shoot per hour per PC.
So I think opening the channel shout would be potentially unmanageable on a server as big as BGTSCC.

I don't foresee us enabling the Shout channel any time soon. That being said, this may have given at least one of our devs an idea. More to come on that if the idea proves feasible!

The shout could be modified to be heard only in given distance, or least on nwn1 is that possible. Is it possible on nwn2? You could shout at characters too far to hear common talking.
For dms it would work same as it does now.

On the scry list, you can add your willingness to aid new players as a note.

We used to have a thread of people putting their names up as player advocates. Basically players anyone could go to and ask for help judgement free. New players are rare these days, but they arent entirely impossible. I agree with Ghost. Flag yourself on scry and keep it to tells.

@ whitewood- Believe it or not some new players are not aware of the playerscry (It's the eye icon at the top of the screen) there are even some new players that don't know how to reply to a tell. The whisper circle would indeed be to let the whisperer know who is within earshot of what is being said. I thought that was pretty obvious. I think it would be helpful in local chat mode as well. Maybe even have the option of turning it off. I check BGTSCC wiki and there is no info on any of the chat modes.

I did not mention the playerscry in my debate.
It was not obvious, thats why I asked for clarity.
