Scaling questions

Hey, so I've been here about a week. Played the oc years ago, but this is my first attempt at a PW(though I played alot of muds in my younger days)

Generally I've been farming enemies that are worth 44/50xp. Is it possible/practical to get more xp than that per mob? I defeat the occasional boss enemy that's worth 70/80. Kinda seems like 50 is the best I can get off a regular enemy though.

Also, is it worth the time to go back and loot chests from lower level zones? I've done a bit of that, and I'm undecided. Sometimes I get some value from it, other times not. Does the loot scale to your level or anything?

So 50 xp is the max to my knowledge for normal mobs.

Going back for chests is I think worth it besides the fact that you lose out on xp.

I think the rewards from the chest to scale to some extend but not entirely sure here.

Thanks for the information! Sounds like I'm basically on the right track then. I'm guessing those 50xp enemies are actually a couple of levels above me.

As far as low level looting goes, I've got at will invisibility, so it's fairly quick. Definitely feels way better when i'm doing it in zones where I'm actually killing the enemies though.

Sometimes it's better to get less xp per mob because they often times are easier to kill and there are areas where you just have a higher density of monsters compared to others.

So you'd spend less time running searching for mobs to kill than in the other region, also my number 1 hint, try not to focus on xp too much, rather get involved with other players to roleplay with ;)

Yeah, I hear you. RP is the reason I'm playing this instead of a MMO. I originally rolled a drow phantom about a week and a half ago that I had a personality and background developed for. But waiting until level 3 to pick up weapon finesse was pretty obnoxious, doubly so on a Drow where getting to 3 takes forever.

I don't believe in forcing myself to ride out crappy mechanics for a character I want to RP(I also don't believe in RPing a character simply because it's powerful). So I wrote the phantom off as a failed experiment and rolled a character I knew would be more fun to play through the early levels. After 4 days I hit level 10 with around 90k gold saved up. When I'm gonna grind, I do it efficiently.

The new character is still taking shape in my imagination. Has a few personality traits and a couple of big background points to work off of. In my tabletop and mud experience over the years, my best characters have always been the ones where they were just fun to play, and the RP built up off of that fun. Trying to force myself to play something that sounded great in theory but didn't work out in practice always leaves me feeling frustrated. Better to just find what is fun and works, then build off of it.

Yeah now I hear you leveling in the early levels with a drow can be frustrating admittedly.

Too bad you jumped ship I always like me new crew members for the UD :).

What's your time zone and play times?

Cheers K'yon

Still playing UD, I'm on a Tiefling now though. +1 level adj is much easier to handle than +2. Timezone is GMT -6. Schedule is currently in flux. I do a nightshift for 1 week every 4, and I'm currently on that. Thus i'm playing at completely opposite times than when I normally would. Normally I'd be around 8-11pm.
