Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Inspired by the whips thread. Does anyone else feel this weapon is very much lacking in variety, quality and quantity on this server?

I certainly do enough so that my character hasn't weidled a shortswords for one whole level up through to level 18. He has a focus feat utterly wasted in it as I hadn't expected them to be so absent.

Have you checked ALL the NPC merchants?!?

No, there are a few nice ones at vendors and some in the loot table.

Try Gullykin.

The Mask store has a couple of short swords too. A stealth one and a wooden one (has extra melee blunt for the undeads!). Like others have said Gullykin has some that Endylon put in a bit ago as well.

There should be more than one at Gullykin. I seem to remember adding a few nice ones very recently, including one that does magical and divine damage.

It's only one shortsword, mace and handaxe. (unless you added more)

Uhh I ought to have mentioned I play a Drow. So unless I conduct a Gullykin said, that ain't happening.

There has been a lack of variety in shortswords.... pretty much forever. Once in a blue moon you'll find one on the auction with a little fire or acid damage, but there isn't much of anything on vendors except what has previously been mentioned, the most being in the Mask store(I think there's a similar vendor in a side room in a shop in Sshamath, a few doors over from Glouras).

It would be very nice for newer players and lower level characters to have a short sword with fire damage on it. It gets difficult for the non-Gish two weapon fighters to clear some content that is even below their level with out the fire damage. Such as trolls near CK.

Thought it would be nice to have a short sword say +2 with d4 fire at an affordable price. Just for those to use it a bit before going off and buying epic weapons.

Over all the worse weapon in the game seams to be short swords, though more so as why take them when many daggers are way better, feats and abilities compliment them more, so forth. It be cool looking, flavorful and a great item to improve upon.

Personally I would like a short sword with AC that kinda be like a parry blade or something exciting, though I am not sure it would work.

Sounds like a massively wasted feat then
