I'm still relatively new and haven't made it to epics. I've seen some items that have charges with multiple abilities that use the charges at different numbers. That all makes sense. What confuses me is when you see "Abilty - Single Use" on an item with charges. Does that mean it gets only one use *ever* no matter the number of chrages left? Or does it use a single charge?
I would think the first, except the merchant in Beregost sells a ring (Least Spell Mantle) with 50 charges that only has one power, but it says "single use" not 1 charge. So are the charges useless on that ring or are "single use" and "one charge/use" interchangeable?
"Single Use" on an item with charges?

Yes, it is only one use. The item is destroyed on its use.
Why these even exist ? Good question ..., but a few of these items are still useful.
regarding Least Spell Mantle, there is a cheap amulet with it also sold in Beregost (it can be recharged)

Re: "Single Use" on an item with charges?
So I assume that items which have both 1 charge/use and single use properties are not destroyed, but the single use disappears? Like, there is an item with single use tree stride, but i has like 4 other abilities which use charges. I'm figuring that means you can recharge it for most of the abilities, but the tree stride ability is gone after you use and you'd have to buy a whole new item to get it again.Theodore01 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 3:49 am Yes, it is only one use. It was just odd to see 50 charges on an item that is -only- a single use. Probably an oversight as it was developed/balanced by QC. No biggie. A dev with some time could fix it, but I imagine there are bigger fish to fry, as they say.
At 5 charges per use and only 20 charges, you're paying a premium for 4 uses. A wand, if you have UMD, is much more cost efficient. I figure the charges cap out at original value - it won't go up to 50, right?Theodore01 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 3:49 am regarding Least Spell Mantle, there is a cheap amulet with it also sold in Beregost (it can be recharged)

If the one charge is used -the item is destroyed.
That amu can be used by anyone without UMD. And it can be recharged to 50 charges.

Re: "Single Use" on an item with charges?
Well that's kind dumb isn't it? Why would anyone use the single use feature when it destroys an item with 4 other abilities that can be recharged? It's like paying 200,000 gold for the chance to do something that is worth 50,000 1 time.Theodore01 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 6:27 pm If the one charge is used -the item is destroyed.
