Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Hello!
This isn't the first time I'm looking to make Sudden Aegis a worthwhile spell. And this time around, I'm hoping that minds are more flexible!

Currently, Sudden Aegis is a instantaneous casting from a Feat if memorized in the Spellbook, and a spell that lasts 1 round granting 10 DR / Adamantine. These are PnP stats, and for PnP, it is decent because...PnP isn't on a running clock that we can't control (or the DM controls at the Table).

A 1 round spell, even if instantaneous and on a 30 sec timer, is not well balanced for a PW Server. As well, since the spell has a Target of 1 Creature, it means after clicking the Hotbar'd Feat, you still have to use a cursor to select the recipient (that means for Self as well!).

I propose one of two options for a change:

1. Change it to a duration of 3 rounds every 30 seconds. Just compare to duration and DR amount from Premonition! (and yes I know...difference in Lvl 3 vs Lvl 8 spell).
2. Change it to 3/adamantine @ 1 round / CL. Just a little bit of helpful DR then, for a very decent amount of time.

Just popped this over to the QC discord. I’ll try to get some feedback this week. Sorry about the extreme delay, I think it just got lost in the weeds with everything else going on. Like the really really tall weeds because of how old they are.

But again, it’s been a pretty huge dev cycle so I beg a little more patience.

In general, I love these “spells that can be clickable feats,” it’s just that many literally work so little time that one can’t make good use of them (especially when not instant, and when they last only 1 round, where so often an Action pauses a PCs queue and thus the PC loses that whole round!).

I could be mistaken, but from when I was trying out the spell for a little bit, it seemed that the DR didn't actually kick in as instantly as the feat itself did, depending on the timing. As far as I could tell, I was wasting most/all of the effect because it was wearing off faster than the game could register there was a change in DR.

Maybe I wasn't checking correctly or it just didn't show in the combat log, but that's how it appeared to me.

When I was sure it was working though, it was so cool. I love this spell and it's incredibly fun.

The giant ToT patch, and subsequent bug fixes, pretty much burned everyone out. Dev work has been relatively non existent since. But things are threatening to pick up again.

I wouldn’t advise any breath holding but I’ll try to get a list of small issues to address up sooner rather than later.
