A Conclave for the Players
So I just rolled a Drow Wizard and now I want a seat on the Council of the Conclave.
Just kidding (Im not kidding)!
Sshamath is a cool city - but it needs its politics flushed out a bit more.
I was thinking if there are any other Wizards around....or maybe sorcerers....*sighs*....or even invokers...
...that might be interested in representing their school, on behalf of interests of The Conclave (naturally), in a sort of Think Tank capacity, or auxiliary citizens department of social services or a any kind of bureaucratic representation for that matter.
We will meet semi regularly and discuss relevant issues on behalf of relevant citizens. We can then work together to lobby said interests on up to the Conclave for further review.
If anyone is interested - please reply to this post or send me a pm.
If we can get a handful of interested persons, I will create an IC thread and we can RP this ...'Small Council' ((Im re-watching GoT atm)) on the forums and plan a meetings in game.

Re: A Conclave for the Players
That’s kind of what The Bureaucracy of Sshamath is supposed to be, but 99% of its members are essentially inactive. However, I agree with your sentiment that UD needs more player-driven politics & conflict and open to your idea.

Let's do this! It would be awesome to get the Conclave's Bureaucracy going again, or even do something entirely new. Player-driven politics will breathe life into the Underdark so count me in.

Re: A Conclave for the Players
its exactly what the Bureaucracy is, but it requires you know, people who rep their factions to play and use the forums - and if people take a break or w/e the faction needs to switch reps
the DMs control adding people to the private forums, there is some formal request your character is suppose to send to get a seat and then thats it
but aside from that there is really no other control imposed, there was like a UD/Bureaucracy DM that use to run stuff for the UD but no sure how they are doing that now

I concur, it would be awesome if we could have it roll back up again!

Re: A Conclave for the Players
The Bureaucracy would be ideal.
Maybe we should figure out which of the 13 factions of the Conclave are currently active?
What players/members who hold seats are still around...?
It might be easier to start smaller an then RP rebuilding it.

Re: A Conclave for the Players
it doesnt need to mirror the conclave, its just any faction with the interest of supporting sshamath; the only limit was a faction only gets 2 seats, one that speaks for the faction and like a standby that goes but stays silent
if no one from a faction is around then they simply arent going to be at any meetings, players of factions that have missing reps can just replace them but still would have to pm the DMs for access
there is no need to reinvent the wheel, just start using it again

Re: A Conclave for the Players
I'm down to do either; we're currently working to get a seat on the Bureaucracy but as Rinzler said, many current members aren't active. Either idea revives the politics but perhaps both can be done.
For example, not everyone in the small council needs to be on the Bureaucracy. However, agreements can be made with those on the Bureaucracy. This small council might consider something to be dangerous to the city and send word to the Stonestave. The council might have alliances within itself, plotting against each other.
In most of the council's operations, DM intervention isn't needed. The Bureaucracy, to my understanding, requires a bit more. Both ideas could mesh well together and add another layer to our beloved political/intrigue RP!
Thanks for listening to my TED Talk.

Re: A Conclave for the Players
well like i said, no need to reinvent the wheel
The Bureaucracy of Sshamath RP Thread
beginnings of the Bureaucracy.
if your guild is not on the list, then your guild has to write up a formal pledge of allegiance saying that you will do what you can to help support the interests of the city and assign a speaking seat member to rep the guild and you can also assign a silent seat member, this is also sent to the DMs
i only edit the list of members, which is also why i dont remove anyone who is inactive off of it, you can still see what guilds have seats
but if there are only a few then it will start off small, which there is nothing wrong with, the rping rebuilding it i think is safe to say will be fairly natural

so if your guild is already listed but the person is inactive, your guild already pledged allegiance to sshamath and it just need new reps, new reps need to contact the DMs to be swapped outBlackman D wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2016 10:25 pm Located in the Stonestave is the registry book that has the members of The Bureaucracy listed. Re: A Conclave for the Players
I think OP's intention was to have a group that was less reliant on DM's to feel connected to the politics of Sshamath, especially as it relates to The Schools of Magic.Blackman D wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 4:31 pm so if your guild is already listed but the person is inactive, your guild already pledged allegiance to sshamath and it just need new reps, new reps need to contact the DMs to be swapped out

Re: A Conclave for the Players
Yeah my idea for a Mage bureaucracy was much smaller in scale than 'The Bureaucracy'. But it's good to know something is in place already.
Both ideas can work- It is good to have options and goals.
Now that I understand the politics a bit better I should slow my role a bit and circle back once I have done a bit more networking in game.
Cart before horse and all that..

Re: A Conclave for the Players
Speaking as someone who has no desire to be a part of it, I think it would be nice to have a player involved, functioning bureaucracy in S’shamath once again.
Even if more often than not it’s just players meeting and discussing things I think it will help develop the overall all RP in and around the city just by having an extra layer of focus.

Re: A Conclave for the Players
well it has always been a bit small scale, and its not so much that the bureaucracy is reliant on the DMs, its mostly player ran everything, just DM supported
the reason why you need to go thru the DMs to get in is because the bureaucracy is an official group supported by the conclave, its there to handle all the small stuff for them
