An urge to do good!

Unread post by elsteveo »

Hi Guys I am an old player returning to BGTSCC after a year or so away.

I have an urge to play a Paladin. I have often played Melee fighters but never a Paladin.

So my questions are.

1. Build wise is a straight Pal playable?

2. If a multi-class is needed what with M@A? Fav Soul? Cleric?

3. What are must get Pal skills and spells.

Thanks in advance guys!

Paladins are pretty excellent going straight 30 paladin. You can do the base class, the kits are almost all good as well (Divinate is my favorite).

26paladin/4dip works well if you have a class that you want to dip into.

You can also do 4paladin/12fighter/otherclass, 4paladin/26FS, 4paladin/26man-at-arms builds that really only go paladin to get cha to saves and EDM.

Ahhh...the Paladin.

If you hate buffing, go for Crusader.

If you love buffing, go for Divinate.

If you love Charisma, go for vanilla Paladin 30 (w/ EDM).

If you love Sword & Board, go for Cavalier.

If you want to act like a Paladin but want more melee oomph, go for Pal 4 + anything else (and split STR 21 / CHA 21 for EDM).

If you love Paladin but hate Paladin at the same time, just rethink it entirely and go for Blackguard!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Just getting a years worth of updates downloaded then I will jump in.

Will probably go straight Pally as I often multi so this will be a good change.

Any must get spells or feats for a Pally 30?

Also should I go for as higher Charisma as possible or getting a few points in Strength too?

There is a guide for paladin spells that you might want to take a look in the gameplay guide section: viewtopic.php?f=149&t=61584

A lot of paladin's abilities rely on CHA but as a melee fighter, you should not neglect STR. How to balance STR and CHA depends on builds. One of the examples is EDM build that requires you to have both STR and CHA at 21 at the least.

Hey Elsteveo

I have played a pure paladin for some years now and I absolutely love it, though my build is more to fit his roleplay as he is a old man now, so I have gone for a great smiter build. Overall is not a great build, but when you get to Smite something, oh boy do you feel like a rockstar. And since he is old I believe after 7-8 hits he is exhausted, thus he does poor damage after his smites as he is winded.

But there are a lot of awesome and excellent paladin builds out there, I have tried most of them when rcr comes around, so let me know if you wish to discuss any specific build, I have likely tried it or something close to it!
