"He's a good spellslinger- even if a bit shy,"
- Arctus, Anointed of Helm, introducing Tarren to strangers

"Such a buzz kill... you need to loosen up, you never make it out of life alive!"
- Salim, Archmage of Chaos, teaching Tarren about useful magics.

Name: Tarren Spellspire
Race: Human
Age: 22 (Summer)
Culture/Country: Tethyr
Adventuring Occupation: Wizard, Evoker.

Tarren is an inquisitive young wizard from Tethyr's eastern regions, south of the Wealdath. Studied in some interesting topics, he bears the hallmarks of an adventuring wizard released from his apprenticeship a bit too early and is always eager to learn more and more. Everything seems to need an answer to him, and the torrent of questions that escape his lips are usually only barely made out by the seemingly nervous manner in which he asks in the first place.

Born to a pair of farmers before the darkest days of Tethyr's monarchy, he was entrusted to a travelling wizard who apparently owed the couple a favor. Released into his new life at the tender age of seven with appeals from his parents to make something more of his life than simply being a farmer, Tarren would soon find his teacher was much more than just a vagrant magus.
There, they travelled to mysterious and strange places, hidden in corners most overlooked or guided by companions rarely welcomed. The young boy would grow to be inspired- and simultaneously exasperated- with his mentor's strange methodology for magecraft and magic, and his approaches to solving a problem.

During his travels, Tarren would grow to read, write and even began his cantrips, while travelling in wilds and lands untamed to humans and unwelcoming to outsiders. A rare appreciation for the natural world around him was born from the wonder of sun peeking through the obscuring leaves, decorating forest floors in dreamlike rays of light, and he felt at home more on old forgotten roads and spying strange and mundane creatures flitting about between trees and brush.

His final journey to Baldur's Gate was punctuated in his teacher's decision to end the apprenticeship a bit earlier than expected with the issues surrounding a small village in Amn. Their town under seige by an angered fey beyond their comprehension, the discovery was a pained and tormented dryad, forlorn at the foresting of the trees for the greed of the villagers. A bargain struck, the villagers swore to only take trees marked a certain way, but in exchange Tarren's teacher was turned into a tree as insurance that he would keep his word. Tarren himself, trained by his mentor, now had to walk the path ahead of him- he was alone, but not without a sort of determination.

Since, he has arrived in Baldur's Gate, he has met many and seeks to meet many more. Reserved and excitable, nervous and perpetually stammering over the correct phrasing of words and social convention, most have taken to teasing or laughing alongside the mage and his strange ways- and while he is sometimes a bit put out at being unable to always fight back, he always seems happy to help and aid. He has recently applied for, and successfully obtained, a new apprenticeship under the archmage of the Elder Circle- Natariel, believing her experience and wisdom will allow him to grow and learn in more than simply magic.
