As the title says.

I had been always told you need to be caster or be able to use hips.

What weapons to use to overcome the awknard Dr's?

I am just curious how to manage to make up a stand without immidiete death in it😄

highly situational and depends on each player's skill

hips and spells give you an advantage sure, but there are plenty of melee builds that can beat either one

UMD of course helps in the case of mages, least spell mantle can go on a wand

for sneaks, detection is your first counter obviously, but if you are a build that doesnt get either as a class skill then you want to be mostly avoidable, mirror image or displacement wands will help, and a lot of sneaks have low will saves if you have a daze or something - daze itself is a bad option because it will only make them hide till it wares off

but for melee, if you have no intention of backing out it helps to get into melee range while the convo is going to give yourself a better position if it turns into a fight, dont just stand there and type, move up while stalling/threatening

For a melee character your best options are to get Whirlwind, Knockdown, or Springboard (Thief Acrobat feat). All three will help against a sneakster. The latter two will help against casters.

Otherwise, as Blackman D said, get UMD. Preferably high enough to use all scrolls, which will allow you to cast Mordenkainen's Disjunction and Bigby's Crushing Hand. Both of which will help immensely against casters.

If you want a melee gladiator build you need disarm, knockdown, shield slam, the bugged steadfast resolve feat, high AC, and reasonable DPS. Thief Acrobat is immune to knockdown so for pvp it's a great choice. UMD for open world is a must. Besides very specific RP backgrounds it's power-build orientated and I doubt anyone who isn't a committed gladiator build themselves will ever enjoy dueling with you. Once people get past the skill floor the pvp is very imbalanced and frankly unsatisfying with that 6 second round and lack of rotation and counter play for a majority of non-pvp builds. Gear sets vs. certain builds help too, but again, that is not very RP. I could have beat someone in a duel every single time using +save gear I have and taking steadfast resolve, but I chose not to for RP reasons.

And how does it work between melee on melee. I noticed there are various DR that depand on the metal of weapon. Plus how do you avoid being hacked down in two hits from those glass cannons doing over 40-60 dmg a hit?

From my experience, the best things for PvP, when you talk about melee-vs-melee, are like this:

http://nwn2db.com/build/?228523
http://nwn2db.com/build/?325732

In other words, dual-wielding fighters with good AC, incredibly good AB, average damage and full UMD access (and optional HipS). Add mirror images atop of your already great AC and nobody will ever oneshot you. Add stone body, displacement, tortoise shell elixirs and other stuff for full juggernaut mode. When fighting mages, all you really need is spell mantle wand. When fighting bards - silence wand.

As everyone above mentioned, consumables are the key, you gotta preferably have them for all possible situations.

You don't. Some builds on the server are critting for 200.

That's why UMD is important. If you want to survive all melee attackers, then you want the following buffs on you:
Freedom of Movement (Wand), Death Ward (Wand), Stone Body (Scroll)

Gives you 10/adamantine DR, and immunity to the following: blindness, critical hits, ability score damage, deafness, disease, electricity, poison, stunning, negative energy, and death effects. Additionally you only take half damage from acid and fire of all kinds.

Effectively it makes you near-impossible to kill in a single round. Even several rounds is difficult.

i really love the new rules people bring in the warriors den

-no casting other than innate spells - pure self reliant
-no buffs - will make low AB, low hide/ms toon stay low without consumables
-no dual boxing - purely depend on innate base without help from other PC
-no elixir - pure cheesy builds that relies on elixir are disabled
-must rest first before fight - to avoid cheating

so for a PVP that is on an even ground, this is what we look for
not 1 PC buffed by 5 casters fighting like a juggernaut, or dual boxing mongerhobos.

Wasn't there update that you cannot be immune to ability score damage? These wards never procted from ability damage on my FS year ago.

Such a change was made to Death Ward. The BGTSCC Wiki still lists ability score damage immunity for Stone Body.

i have a F/WM/FB/DC halberd user, crits in the 200s with IPA, i dueled a 20/10 barb/FB, no buffs or anything just raw power and it was pretty damn even

i had 450hp and she had 600 while raging and it was still close on who would win, we did a few matches, won some loss some but it comes down to who rolled better

Whirlwind attack is a counter to HIPS, you just have to time it right. If you crit as high as some of the builds on this server do, you can probably 1 shot a a sneak.

That was kept because the movement speed decrease makes you a sitting duck. And if I recall, that movement speed decrease you couldn't get around with Freedom of movement because of nerf. At least thats what I remember, or it was just Iron Body.

As for Disarm, that was nerfed too(for mechanical reasons, not PvP). I don't know if there is a CD to re-equip the weapon, but if its not anymore than a round, its trash.

Disarm simply unequips weapon and removes from hotbar. If your inventory isn't cluttered, you can quickly re-equip the weapon.

Or, carry multiple.
