Cannot rename Elixirs (not sure if intended)

I have been attempting to add flavor to my creations, like I do with potions, but when I use the DMFI tool on an Elixir, I am notified that "This item cannot be renamed."
I was wondering if this was an mechanical block (because the elixir script relied on the specific item name), an intentional prevention (to ensure the description remained unadulterated, perhaps?), or an oversight.
If one of the latter two, I was hoping it might be possible that at least the item names could be edited using DMFI. Currently the names are both redundant (because the spell and CL each shows 3 times: once in the name, once in the examine, and once in the properties. Sometimes the spell name has the CL in it, making 6 instances)
