Title: Food for the Orphans
Player talks to the orphanage chef ("Sister Karin"), who needs help getting enough food for the orphanage. Five fruits, three fish, and two wild herbs are asked for.

RP Goals:
The player can roleplay a forager or fisherman career, where they provide for and aid their community, without resorting to violence. Alternatively the player can engage other players in RP to help acquire what is asked for by Sister Karin, thus providing an additional RP hook.

Mechanical notes:
Gets players acquainted with fishing and lootable consumables from various plants. Due to proximity of the pier to the beach at Ulgoth's Beard it may also get players acquainted with the use of boats for travel prior to the Island Berries quest. Should be relatively easy XP for newer players, while serving as a "tutorial" for fishing and foraging, and be a recurring job for players wishing to RP improving the community they live in.

• The fish can be fished anywhere, though Ulgoth's Beard is likely to be the primary location
• The wild herbs (Healing Moss?) can be gathered in the BG North Farmlands or at the BG Wyvern's Bridge
• The fruits can be purchased in any store (apples, grapes, strawberries, others?), or harvested in the orchard at the Halls of Inner Light
  • The Halls of Inner Light would likely support the orphanage
  • Alternatively a plantation could be added to the BG North Farmlands (see below), where the fruits can be harvested

Upon turning in the quest a Survival roll could be made to determine whether any of the bounty was of higher quality than normal, thus yielding a little extra gold.

Proposed Rewards:
300 xp, 50 gold

-- Bonus XP from fishing not included in quest reward

Great idea!

There aren't many quests for non-combat oriented types to complete. Even if it was a little harder and took longer than other quests I don't think they'd complain.


I do think various options should be possible to complete the quest though.

Survival: Can find all three ingredients yourself

Diplomacy: Can convince fisherman/farmer to donate some of their produce

Knowledge (Nature): Can impress the farmer with your knowledge and he gives you the fruit as a gift

Knowledge (Local): You can talk like a real local, and the fisherman gives you the fish at discount

Good alternatives to add in as well.

I'm sure the devs can/will work something out, if this is a popular enough suggestion.
