Big thank you on chests

Hey Devs,
Just bashed away at a chest and for the first time got the message
"A loud crunch can be heard from within the chest"
Finding a broken item inside made me feel great that finally lockpicking chests could become a thing again.
Just sending a thanks out there!

Glad you like it! Hope you put some points into Spot and not just Open Lock...

Lol yes I will, I found that out with my rogue who luckily was able to HiPS and survive.
Thank you so much for this. Chests need to be this.

I wish there was a better way to encourage partying than forcing classes with low skillpoints to spread themselves even thinner than they already do.

It happens rarely enough that it's fine, but I think the only thing it will change, if anything, is that more players will ignore RP skills to dump points in Open Lock. Not a huge fan since there are already Open Lock-only chests out there.

I don't see the forcing here. It does encourage bringing along someone with the right skill set, or excepting the chance of losing an item or two per dungeon. It clearly shows what value a rogue can have to a group. Like bringing a tank for a boss. Or a cleric to heal, wizard to etc.
Every character shouldn't be able to do everything themselves. Period. A character that chooses to spread themselves out is definitely not going to be able to do everything they want to as well as someone who specializes. So don't. My cleric gets so few skills points, but he's not supposed to be everything, he's a cleric.
If you have to play solo due to time zones or choice, yes, this might put a small dent in your wallet but I don't think it's going to seriously impact someone's loot runs.

There are plenty of hours during the day with only ~6 to 10 people online, finding someone within ones level-range and playstyle is often impossible.

Give Chests an Intimidate DC check!!

UMD, knock wand. Yet more skill investment. Some classes can have it all, others, not so much. I think the magic loot chests that can only be unlocked with pick lock were a better choice.

While we do try to keep the solo player in mind it is ultimately our current intention to design the server for group play in order to foster roleplay.

Bear in mind that being unable to open a chest except by picking the lock is akin to making
all items inside broken.

I did a hilltop ruins -> underground -> to FAI with a character who had zero open locks skill, and using no version of knock(via item, or spell), and did not break a single item.
That's all the hints I am giving
