Meaning of colored map icons

Is there a page which explains the meaning of the different colors used for locations on the map? At first I thought they represented a relative CR level e.g. green for safe, blue for challenging, and red for dangerous, sort of like the trail markers at ski resorts. But many of the icons don't seem to correspond well with the actual CR of the location. Do they mean something else?

Wow. I had not picked up on those meanings at all. Are some questgivers labeled differently? For example, Jenna of Ilmater is Blue. And is there a reason why some dungeons are marked in Red and others in Blue? For example, the BG graveyard and all the crypts in it are marked in Blue.

Some of the maps simply haven't been updated yet to correspond with the correct colors denoting the above.
