Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

The current form of Fey Presence grants 3 daily castings of Deep Slumber (sleep for up to 10HD of creatures), and can be combined with Fey Skin for +1 DR/cold iron. For a heritage feat that only becomes available at level 6, it sounds terribly underwhelming.

For comparison:

• Fey Power grants +1 CL/DC for Enchantment, or +1HD for eldritch blast progression.
• Fey Heritage grants +3 Will vs Enchantment.
• Fey Legacy grants 3 daily castings of Confusion at level 9 or above.
• Fey Skin grants +1 DR/cold iron for every Fey heritage feat. (The description doesn't quite say that, but it works out to the same thing.)

And, to be extra thorough, let's also compare to Fiendish Heritage:

• Fiendish Heritage grants +4 Fortitude vs Poison, and +1 Universal vs Good.
• Fiendish Power grants +1 CL/DC for Evocation, or +1HD for eldritch blast progression.
• Fiendish Legacy grants 3 daily castings of Summon V. (Though they're apparently bugged and always cast at CL 1. Assuming the wiki isn't out of date.)
• Fiendish Presence grants 2 daily castings of Fear. (Also supposedly bugged.)
• Fiendish Resistance grants +3 DR vs Acid/Fire for every Fiendish heritage feat.

Upgrading the feat to grant castings of the level-agnostic Hiss of Sleep spell would, IMO, bring it in line with the intended power levels of the other SLA heritage feats while retaining its overall flavor.

This seems like a good change to me. I’m all for things like feat choices not becoming obsolete after a few levels. Not always possible, especially in class prerequisites, but... and someone please correct me if I’m wrong... I hardly see changing deep slumber to hiss of sleep making it overpowered.

A feat which ceases to be useful after level 15 (when 10HD enemies become non-challenging) seems pretty silly, agreed.

A spell becoming useless is fine; you can swap it out. Feats on the other hand cannot be swapped.

This isn't even a class prerequisite. Fey Heritage is, but Fey Presence... not so much.

And yeah, I don't think it would be that bad. It's still three daily castings, on a spell that probably everyone and their mothers are immune to anyway. The least it could do is be consistently mediocre, like the other heritage SLAs.

Despite my lack of QC tag (which hopefully will be remedied shortly) I'm giving you the official answer, which is... sort of.

Actually all of the heritage feats are being looked at and there have been several suggestions for some of them. So this is just being thrown into the mix to sort with the rest. I plan to make an official list this weekend to start getting staff feedback on them all.

Bumping with another query if anything became of this.
