I've decided to give NWN2 a try again, and have some questions. I have looked at the servers, and decided on this one. Evidently, I looked at it before and joined the forums, but never got around to playing.
I like both grinding and RP. I have played a variety of characters good and evil. My favorite of all time was a chaotic good half orc Barb/FB, and that is what I want to play again. Had a terrible amount of fun with him, and it even led to others creating half orcs from the same family.
I like to plan my character build out, so I am wondering about stat bonus items. What is the max you can get for anything? +3 str, +4 etc? It has been several years since I played, so I am sure that I am forgetting something, but that is all I can think of at the moment.
Also, what is the state of half orcs here? I have never played a grey orc, and am considering trying it out, but I am awful attached to h'orcs.
Thanks much in advance.

Re: New player questions
Barbs/FB are very tough. Barbs have been boosted on this server

Search here for custom changes.
https://nwn2db.com/ is a good resouse to find builds.when searching type bgtscc into you search and it will populate builds just for this server.
People are snarky to horcs but it can be fun rp.
Folk hate gray orcs ic and ooc. No fun playing them. Very lonely.
There are +4 items...they fall under epic gear and can be purchased for high prices.
There is a belt that offers +3 to con and str that you may want instead of trying to find 2 +4 items. Seek out the epic merchant in baldur's gate city...you can plan your gear from what's sold there.

Re: New player questions
For a barbarian you want even strength and con for standard rage... there is a ring that gives +2 strength and con while epic rage gives +10 to each which goes the +12 cap for stat boosts. Epic rage only requires 21 strength on this server so there are 2 schools of thought.
1. Max strength with con around 16. Pairs well with knockdown and shield slam along with higher damage.
2. End str and con at 22 for epic rage and epic dr for an uber tank
Both have strong benefits to consider. Comes down to personal preference

Re: New player questions
Thanks for the info. Never thought about looking up a build before, I think I will give that a shot.
I like being able to do some damage, but 22 con sounds pretty interesting. I prefer to use a great axe on the character, hope the lack of a shield doesn't impact him too negatively.

There are wands or if no UMD there are relatively inexpensive 1/day items with Shield spell for when you need that extra AC. Whirlwind Frenzy Barbarian can help quite a bit when going for a two-hander build, but is far more conducive to a max STR build IMO. Of course still works with a Standard Rage Barbarian, but you may want ~4-6 shield broaches so you can keep it active up to 20-30 minutes total.VurkWogs wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:47 pm Thanks for the info. Overall you'll want to try to come out to where you can reach 50+ AC if you are going to mostly be solo, but with a group this is less of an issue.

Thanks for all the info. Been exploring and trying to refamiliarize myself with the game. Whew, a lot of work, but I am enjoying it.
