Tchos' HD UI Panels - Works singleplayer. Doesn't work on server?

Hello again, BGTSCC people. I'm very much a new NWN2 player as well as a new member to this community. I read in the
General Server Rules that we are allowed to use GUI overrides. I stumbled across Tchos' HD UI panels and dialogue on the
Neverwinter Vault, extracted the contents to the following directory:
Code: Select all
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\override
Then I started the game using the Client Extension as recommended in the
Getting Started thread.
I successfully verified that the UI override worked in single player. Upon direct connecting to the server I discovered that the UI override did not work.
Is there anything else that I need to do to ensure this UI override works on the server?

It does not go in 'Overrides' you should put it in:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\ui\custom
One thing to note, is that you need to go in and delete the fontfamily.xml file from Tcho's , or else some of the custom UI elements of the server won't display correctly.

Thank you, Safo. I heeded your advice.
I've noticed that some of the elements of Tchos' passes through to the server. Some things, like the larger inventory do not. Is it the server that's preventing these changes?

I've done a bit more searching and it looks like
@Ambaryenro has encountered the same issue because BGTSCC modifies the UI in some ways which prevent it from being overridden.
Ambaryerno wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2016 12:47 amThe problem is that if any part of the UI is included in the server files, it overrides the custom UI.
For example, Tcho's interface patch includes a redesigned Inventory and Character Sheet screen. When I have his patch installed it works fine when I play offline. However those elements of the UI are included in the server's files, so if I connect to the server it loads the default UI elements for the Character Sheet and Inventory.
This also becomes a problem with other on-screen elements, such as the buttons in the PC Tools menu; the text size is enlarged, but NOT the actual buttons themselves. As a result, if the text is too large it doesn't fit, and sometimes doesn't even display.
It's complicated by the fact that NWN2 isn't always clear exactly which font groups apply to which interface elements. IE the "Dialog" fonts don't ACTUALLY affect the chat window. That's controlled by the International Font. However this font ALSO affects other elements (such as the Server Select screen).
Ambaryerno wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2016 7:36 amI'm speaking from experience on multiple servers: Some GUI settings (IE PC Tools, Auction House, etc.) are in the server files, so local overrides won't work on them. You'll end up with text that's too large or otherwise doesn't fit, so stuff will start disappearing (dice rolls and emotes in the PC Tools menu are especially problematic)
Ultimately, I've opted against using this user interface mod since it conflicts with the server's preferences.

Check out the latest version of the Client Extension. I believe there are some UI fixes for very high-resolution displays which are supported by the server.
