Hello everybody,

I am returning to the game after some break and I am thinking of the build I want to make for my wizard.

I was thinking of something like :
Wiz 10/ASoC 10/Archmage 10
Or
Wiz 5/ASoC 10/PM5/Archmage 10

Thought on feats, spells, build, faisability, efficacy, etc ?

I plan to spec into necromancy, and I don’t plan to RP as a Red Wiz/Shadow/BM !

Necromancers are good with PM 10, other than that Archmage is good to raise your caster level to get higher DC but you don't need to go all the way to AM 10 as the AM abilities are not very interesting for necromancy spells except Spell Power. ASoC doesn't synergize all too well with the rest, though improved metamagics are not bad.

So as far as power goes a base of wizard 5+, PM 10, AM 4 is good. Past that point you can do pretty much whatever you prefer, many wizard levels are fine like wiz 16, AM 4, PM 10.

In my opinion it's a very powerful build, go to spells for PvE would be create greater undead and buffing spells then Finger of death and wail of the banshee, enervate, wrack, Nyborn's stern reproof. Defensive spells to suit the needs.

I am playing a 20Wiz/10RW, its a basic build with a focus on DC necro spells. The bonus is necro focus feats also boost your summons, so you can become a pretty powerful summoner and have nice DC spells at the same time. Summons are pretty much the only thing that keep me alive in PVE T_T

It's not a super powerbuild, I just didn't want to have to roleplay a bunch of PrCs.

As a wizard you can learn spells from scrolls, so using that thread you can spend your spell picks each level on spells that you cannot obtain from shops.

Even though I do play as an exiled thayan wizard, I did not join the enclave. Come to the dark side of the temple with me! forget about those stinky red wizards in their ivory tower!

For the posted build, wouldn’t I be unable to take the Archmage as with Palemaster I will not have the level 7 spells ?

At level 16 you'll have 9 wizard levels and 7 PM levels => 9 + 4 = 13 levels of spellcasting progression ie level 7 spells.

Ok I thought it was at level 14 on the server, don’t ask me why
