Ranger are an neat class. Like a sorcerer of old picking your stuff can be daunting. Sorcerers now can change a spell every month right? What if rangers could change 1 favored enemy every month.

Not a bad idea, if it is needed.
For pure Ranger I do not believe it is strictly necessary, since the 7 or so favored enemies will cover the waste majorty of enemies found on the server.
For others, though, I can see the usage. It might be tricky to do, however, if some of the extended favored enemy feats have been added to the character.

That would mean that the system would require you to replace the feats abour your favored enemies as well. Remember that there are feats like enhanced
favored enemy or
favored power attack

Not necessarily required. Those feats could go inactive instead of replaced.
Also I remembered calavalier. If that kit could swap out a favored enemy that could help it out too.

Then what is the point?
You get a slight boost to damage against one type of enemy, while losing that and several other bonuses against a different type of enemy.
That's like picking a different weapon type for Weapon Master, but getting none of the added benefits, except for the initial +1 AB.

To pick and choose is the point. If a new zone comes out where 5 extra damage versus vermin is worthwhile I'd take it. You could swap out a FE you haven't invested power attack and enhanced.

I'm completely for the idea (including the ability to swap over Improved Favored Enemy and Favored Power Attack as applicable to a swapped Favored Enemy), assuming it can be made work past any potential complications of the XP burning imp in the Nexus and deleveling to a point where any of the feats would be normally lost. On the RP side, I don't see why it's beyond the pale that a ranger could spend time learning the tactics and methods needed to deal with a new foe while growing rusty at dealing with an enemy they haven't fought on a consistent basis. Mechanically, would add some versatility to the class, and avail any feeling of uselessness if the player chose an enemy without proper server knowledge regarding what they'd be facing in later zones.

I am not super opposed but it does not really make a lot of sense IC wise. A favored enemy means invested time in studying and learning how to hunt a particular creature above and beyond the normal, sudden bursts of amnesia?. In the case of the Sorcerer they are able to change a spell every two levels, the addition of the npc represents that beyond level 20.

I'd argue that the FE swap represents "versatility" and "limitations" if the monthly spell swap represents leveling.

I'm down for it, for the same reasons I'm down with the spellswapper NPC. However, like mentionned above, it means having to swap FE related feats too.

It is an interesting suggestion and would definitely be a qol for power application, but...does it have ANY precedence in D&D 3.5 or just D&D rules?!?
Having this “swap out” feature puts so much content on the edge of a slippery slope, where many our Class/PrCs would “benefit” from periodic power swapping.
Personally, I question any options to “erase” gained knowledge, such as a Favored Enemies presents itself as. I would also like it if my Level 30 Fighter could swap out my Weapon Specialization specific Weapon track once I looted a new option but of a different type. But wouldn’t that be appropriately handled with a delevel or RCR?

Well if the class needs a boost this is one way to do it. I'm not really in charge of balance around here.

Yeah I question that too. Spell swapping has always been a part of the game and the djinni just expands upon that. Feat swapping sounds rather different.

But...the Ranger class is actually considered one of the most balanced Classes that exists on BGTSCC, especially when 30 levels are taken. Any builder knows that 21 levels of Ranger are the shizznizzle, and whatever you add afterwards—Ranger +9, Assassin 9, XYZ of 9 Levels...—is where flavor, a cheery, is put on top of the power sundae.

There's actually alternate rulesets that allow for replacing classes and feats in exchange for training&gold.
PHB II for 3.5E actually details it starting from page 191. As a funny aside, this core book also describes ways to change race (rule-wise at least.)

It maybe personal preference... but I'd hate that build when not hitting a favored enemy. But I'd build it if favored enemies were more flexible. Hence my thread! I'd wager others may feel the same way.
