undead summons
are kill on sight, and yet, mechanically, can only be attacked indirectly by using something such as alchemists fire
is there a way to change said summons, to allow characters to be able to attack them directly? if so, i suggest we do so
often times, necromancers run about invisible, with undead summons, ignoring characters and guards, knowing guards wont attack, and knowing characters cannot attack directly. the mechanics are being abused, and we should rectify this if possible

Re: undead summons
Not possible due to the way the custom summon system works. Summons are counted as dominated creatures, which can't be targeted by hostile effects unless they're actually flagged hostile first. This issue also prevents necromancers from healing their undead with direct negative energy spells.
The only fix I could see would be allowing you to flag an owner hostile through setting hostile on their summon.

This would be fantastic, if it is doable!

Re: undead summons
About a week ago, Emmanuel saw an undead summon in the Cloakwood. I was able to toggle it hostile, and kill it. So I'm not sure what the OP is speaking of?

Re: undead summons
when right-clicking on these summons, you cannot pick a hostile action to do upon them, such as "attack", unless their summoner is first targetted to hostile
this is compounded by the fact that you have to follow pvp rules for characters, but not summons, and when the summoner is hidden via skill or spell, and is ghosting on scry, you cannot mark them as hostile. meaning you cant RP-wise place them to hostile, nor are you able to mechanically place them to hostile
i'm just looking for a mechanical fix to allow hostile actions upon kill on sight summons, without having to first place the summoner to hostile
when my character sees a skeleton roaming about, he should be able to just bash the thing to bone splinters

Re: undead summons
I think that was changed, right? Is it broken now?
You could previously set the undead hostile using the same mechanic as you would a player, I think.

Again, this is not possible due to the way BG's revamped summon system works.Blame The Rogue wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:47 am i'm just looking for a mechanical fix to allow hostile actions upon kill on sight summons, without having to first place the summoner to hostile
If you can do that (by selecting the toggle hostile command while the summon is selected) then that would be the way to do it, yes.Planehopper wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 1:54 am I think that was changed, right? Is it broken now?

Re: undead summons
just clarifying my post, as someone asked
there seems to be a question of if it is possible
when i posted the original post, i had just had an experience in game, where there was no right-click menu option, when right-clicking a summon, to set it to hostile, or to attack it

Re: undead summons
For me, we were in the Cloakwood. I saw a person with an undead out. Emmanuel, being a druid, obviously went right after the undead. I targeted the undead, then at the top of my screen I toggled hostile. Ran over and killed the undead.
What I am unsure of, is whether this toggled the owner hostile. I did have to select him and "untoggle" hostile. Whether that was because I had hostiled his minion, or he had hostiled me, I don't know.

Re: undead summons
if you toggle the undead summon hostile, the summoner will automatically be hostile too. OOCly you know who summons it, but ICly you dont.JustAnotherGuy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 5:02 am For me, we were in the Cloakwood. I saw a person with an undead out. what i normally do is kill the undead summon, then RP "do you know who summons this undead?" towards the summoner or anyone around the undead summon.

Re: undead summons
Slightly off topic, but I did something like that. After the undead was killed, I said ICly, "I just saved you from the undead that was plaguing you" . . . then the player logged out without answering, and didn't come back.

Welp, according to other posters, this is already possible! So flag away.
