Makeover System

Unread post by Ewe »

Hair / Head / Makeover Tutorial:
Step 1:
Make a character named one of the following names:

1. makeover
2. head
3. hair
4. underwear
5. tail

Notes:
  • Do not put a last name.
  • Must be the same race / subrace / gender as the character you wish to copy to.
  • Names aren't case sensitive.
  • Ensure things are spelled correctly.
Step 2:
Log into your character you wish to copy to. In the description of the character add either:

1. !:makeover
2. !:head
3. !:hair
4. !:underwear
5. !:tail
Notes:
  • Open the biography editor of the target character if unsure where to begin.
  • Be sure to save.
Step 3:
Log out. Log back in. You'll see the following happened depending on which you chose:

1. makeover
Copies: hair, hair tint, facial hair, face, eyebrow color, eye color, skin tint, height, and weight from your character makeover to the character with !:makeover in their bio.

2. head
Copies: facial hair, face, eyebrow color, eye color, and skin tint from your character head to the character with !:head in their bio.

3. hair
Copies: hair and hair tint from your character hair to the character with !:hair in their bio.

4. underwear
Copies: hair color from your underwear PC and applies the colors to your undergarment clothing color (no armor look.) with !:underwear in their bio.

5. tail
Adds/Removes: Your tail, depending if you have it or not with !:tail in their bio. The tail will be the same color as your skin. NOTE: Using the word tail no longer effects this! You can now have 'He has no tail' in your bio, and no tail will be added!)

Notes:
  • You can combine !:head and !:hair, but staff recommends using !:makeover instead.
  • Tail is no longer needed in the bio. Simply use the !:tail command to add or remove it.
  • You do not need to put a space in front of any command.
  • Not case sensitive.
  • It can go anywhere in the bio.
  • When you change your skin tint via !:head or !:makeover it will carry over to your tail color as well.
  • Command "slots" have been enabled. You can use !:hair2 to copy the hair of your PC with the first name Hair2, for example. Try not to have too many Hair PCs sitting in your vault taking up space, or we'll have to set a limit.
FAQ
Q: What is this feature for? Can I swap my race and gender, or use other race's heads?

A: So !:hair existed the entire time.

Jude is adding a lot more head models, as well as tweaking existing ones. This feature is intended to allow a player to swap to a new model that has been added or tweaked without the need of doing a 100% RCR just to use an updated model. It can also be used to adjust your appearance later on should you need to for any IC reason or otherwise. There are technical reasons why race and gender have their own set of head models. This feature is not intended to allow you to bypass race and gender restrictions or to change your race or gender.

Q: Doesn't this have the potential to be misused ICly?

A: Yes, there is a potential for someone to abuse this ICly, which is the case for most features in the game. Anything you let a player do, even as simple as entering a name, has the potential to be misused. As always report that kind of thing to your local DM Team if spotted.

Q: Is this live? Was there a patch?

A: This is live, yes. No, there was no patch. For technical reasons a patch to the game is not needed to configure this feature.

Re: New: Appearance Changing Features

As an addition to makeover commands, we do have a command to change PC voice. It was broken and kind of forgotten, but thanks Dalo (for fixing the script) and me (for composing the list of possible options) and Lockonnow (for poking me), it now works. I checked on live server, it's here already.

While you are in Nexus (it only works in Nexus), use ">soundset #" in order to change your PC voice.

Here you can grab the list.
By it's design, it's impossible to use voices of different gender, thus male PCs can't apply female voice and vice versa.
