Update forum text tools

The text editing options on the forum feel quite ancient compared to many other forums.

Is it possible to update the formatting tools to be more modern, as in mixing the preview into the editing like many other sites do?

Or at the very least add functional shortcuts to the editing options?

Ctrl + B = Bold
Ctrl + I = Italics
Etc...

Adding indentation options would also be great.
As would a better table rendering, so compact doesn't apply word-wrap on headers (th tag).
