DM SummerBreeze wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 1:18 pm The elf Alreielle, and her companion Ytarya, casued quite a stir amongst locals when the sight of a hellball being summoned out into the coastline was both seen, and heard. The waves shaking nearby ships and the subsequent disruption bringing many dead and charred fish, crabs, and other sea life to the surface of the water, or washed up along the beach.
In the days that followed, a green haired druid was seen walking along the beaches of Ulgoth's Beard. He would mutter bitterly to himself at the carnage wrought, cleaning up the carcasses, burying the rot, or tossing to the hungry gulls what might still be fit to eat. Very rarely some small critter might be revived, but for every one able to be returned to the sea, more detritus washed ashore in ribbons of flotsam and jetsam.

Another druid joined, a raven-haired woman who melted into the form of a water elemental, melting into the sea and emerging a little later from the foam, troubled, and saddened by whatever was found. The two met on the sand and spoke a moment, before the woman moved to the brushes of the dunes, and vanished in a flurry of leaves.

Iolanna left a message at the Standing Stones to other druids, telling of the utter mess left at Ulgoth's and calling for help to heal the underwater wilderness; at sunrise the next day, she stood again on the shore, totemic supplies ready and watching the horizon as she waited to see if others would join.

The green haired druid would join the raven haired druid on the beach the next day, bringing with him a satchel of things. As it was placed down, the clattering of stones and vials would be heard. He nods to the other druid, and then incants some wards on himself in preparation for the coming clean up.

Admorin Oakbound, Druid of Cloakwood makes an appearance suitably protected and attired. He sets about a methodical approach to sea grass planting. He makes a survey of sea life as he goes. He gathers information to make a report.

Iolanna greets both Emmanuel and Admorin with warm smiles; the first she knew would be there, the place was a favourite of the Arch Druid and the fishing there a delight. But to see Admorin lend his knowledge and passion for flora to the ocean brought joy;

"A welcome sunrise brothers; I'd take to the sea this instant, but, one or two may yet join the cause..."

A small animal can be seen laying peacefully in the grove.

The arch-druid would soon approach and talk to what seems to be an avowed of Candlekeep, who was visiting the grove, about the runes she had noticed there.
The discussion seemed fruitful with the lady offering her aid in cleaning up the mess in Ulgoth's.

The discussion was interrupted by what appeared to be undead accompanying bandits in the lion's way. After they were dispatched, the Arch druid and his mate would head off and the tiny animal would rest in the grove again for some time after.

The High Ranger joins the group before long, to lend her aid however she can. She greets the others with a nod. Her pain filled eye are seen scanning the water and the shoreline often as she waits for instruction from her Archdruid.

Iolanna looks to those gathered, surprised, and grateful at the number.

"It's been some time since we've needed to go under the waves; the shape of a black dragon will allow you to speak down there, though I find as a water elemental I move faster, or a shambling mound less conspicuous. I've prepared a water breathing spell too, for those who would need it. Unless any would rather stay on dry land?"

She turned then to face the ocean spray, indicating out to a small shape on the horizon, the rise of a familiar island along the coast of Ulgoth's beard.

"There is a thread of ocean between the peninsula and the island, shallow enough that the heat and magic of the blast hurt it. More than heat, the blast threw lightning, even acid into the water and the plant life has suffered for it. Last I was in there, I saw almost no creature willing to return to the habitat..."

The druidess sighed, looking back to the others. "There'll be some cleaning to do, but encouraging the plants to grow again will be the first step to restoring what was there. Any thoughts before we go in?

Emmanuel would look to any gathered and speak.

"This is not a combat mission we are on. We are aware of a danger in the water. We currently believe it is an aboleth, an aberration. If we see it, we are going to retreat. If you see anything covered in slime, do not touch it. If you have any way of warding your mind, I urge you to do so before we begin."

"It's a kraken."

A woman in a red and white armor with a red rose crest remains guarding the beach sometimes alongside an old orc.

Emmanuel would raise a brow at the woman.

"Never known a kraken to mind control its victims, or have an entire village under its mind control power. But what it is is irrelevant right now. The point stands."

He looks at the others gathered.

"We are not here to fight. But to cleanse and aid nature."

"As the Arch Druid says," Iolanna began with a nod, "We want to heal what damage we can, not antagonise what is down there. It's still a large stretch of ocean and we want to focus on what's been damaged by light, heat, acid. Stay close enough to not lose sight on one another - I'll move as a water elemental, create currents for anyone unable able to shift."

At that she began her first castings, summoning light from her celestial blood and then bestowing water-breathing spells upon Ashling and Lucia. A few wards were added as habit, but used sparingly; in becoming a water elemental within the ocean, walls of cold salt were the only thing to keep her away of where her own form ended and the sea began. For a moment the druidess wondered just how far she could melt her elemental form into greater bodies of water... but today was not a day for experimentation.

The last cast, and she and all she wore burst into a clear and rippling form of water, the distinct 'Iolanna' silhouette becoming more of a viscous blob. A wash of seafoam bubbled up the form as a wave rushed by their feet, and 'Blobollana' vanished into the waves. Still... visible, here and there, a sentient rise and pull of the waves, ready to help carry them to the depths below.
