Presently, the only way to improve survivability of party members for a wizard is by increasing their stats (pointless if someone got +4/+3 gear), giving a IMA (+2 AC), giving a Spiderskin (+1/+2 AC depending on whether you got +4/+3 nat AC amulet).
And stoneskin, which gives 10 DR for 100 HP. While not much higher, Gr. Stoneskin is an improvement.
Our primary worry is solo powercreep, and devs have stated they want to encourage partying.
So - why not encourage partying by making a critical self-buff that you might end up UMDing even if you got a wizard around for the extra safety margin... Be actually useful for the party?

This would help MA: Solo target only spells that are made into elixirs have a CL cap of 15, while spells that can target friendlies do not automatically have a CL cap.
